Worked with Product Owners to teach them how to turn Business Requirements into Features. This also include teaching Product Owners how to breakdown Features into User Stories as well as how to groom the backlogs.
Provided Rally training to Product Owners. As a Rally administrator, I had the access to add roles and create workspace areas that could be used for training.
As Scrum Teams became predictable and efficient I introduced the XP concept after successfully completing an XP course at AT&T University.
Provided additional training for the Scrum Teams in order to provide developers content on the dramatic shift in paradigm. Test Driven Development (TDD) introduces the concept of writing Test Cases to fail and developing code to fail not your traditional method of development.
Provided worked with the QC team to implement the automated script functionality in the IBM tool ADM QC. A tool that allows the execution of many test cases is required for TDD and ADM QC was being used at AT&T
After successful implementation of XP across the Scrum Teams as an Agile Coach and change agent, I lead strategic Agile (SAFe) rollout across IT Finance and Supply Chain. The scope of the rollout covered three continents including the US, Europe and India.
Technical leads were reluctant to take on Scrum Master role. I took on Scrum Master Role as Technical Leads shadowed. Transitioned Scrum Masters responsibilities gradually to Technical Leads.
Utilized Burn Reports to compare the Scrum Teams progress against the projected critical path to determine if Scrum Team was on schedule to complete Iteration/Sprint. Action items created based on Scrum Team progress.
Reviewed Velocity Reports during Retrospective to determine the number of Story Points the Scrum Team was able to complete during a Sprint/Iteration. Discussed what worked and what didn’t work. Velocity used to determine Scrum Team’s predicability to improve Iteration/Sprint Planning.
Implemented the inclusion of IT Ops during scaling efforts. Worked with DevOps team to introduce CI/CD during Agile Scaling efforts using SAFe.

2001-2005 Sr. Technical Architect
AT&T - Hoffman Estates, IL
As part of the Cloud foundation Initiative I Program Managed efforts to replace all servers, in the IT Finance org, running on Unix to Servers running Linux.
Promoted to Senior Technical Architect after completing the migration of all Cost Management systems from the mainframe to a Midrange Platform using object-oriented programming and relational databases.
While resolving an issue involving the client’s machines using up all its resources to run Cost Management Front-End systems, after some research, I proposed and assisted with the implementation of the infrastructure solution used in all data centers created during 2002 through 2005. My proposal consisted of purchasing 2 application servers and using CITRIX and load balancing that allowed the user to access Cost Management Systems using a web portal that directed them to the application servers that housed the Cost Management Systems.
Final decision maker on Architecture, Design and Technology that will be utilized
by software application team for development of new systems or enhancements
Supervised BSAs (Business System Analyst)), TSAs (Technical Solution Architect), Software Developers. Testers, DBAs, Release Managers and Production Support staff responsible for supporting portfolio of finance applications in our group.
Completed research that resulted in moving all finance systems from servers with Unix OS to new servers with Linux OS. Part of AT&T’s Cloud initiative in preparation for major changes/shift in IT industry to a service base type model.
As part of AT&T’s 2020 initiative I was responsible for the creation of a 3-year roadmap for the Finance applications supported by my team, as the company prepares for the shift in the IT industry to a service-based model. The roadmap included require changes in the traditional IT hierarchy/structure to a hierarchy/Structure better aligned for DevOps.
Assist and worked closely with application teams in the resolution of any software or hardware problems.
Responsible for annual evaluation and career development of application support team that I supervised.
All projects on my team were delivered on time and within +-5% of the original budget. Delivery dates only changed if client added or removed scope. My team was the only team to accomplish this for 3 straight years.
1998-2001 Software Engineer
AT&T – Hoffman Estates, IL
Designed, Developed and implemented customized software as part of an application team. All projects during my duration on the team met or exceeded client’s expectations.
Was the Development Manager for the new customized CBS Web system that was awarded Strategic system of the year. The Web application was a common budget solution for Pacific Bell, Ameritech and SBC companies. Was responsible for leading the creation of workflows and for design of Web Pages for system. The system used JSP for the front end, JAVA script and servlets.
Worked with the Online Systems team to create first Web Based system that allowed customers to order services online. The System allowed the users to select services, schedule installation based on a calendar that displayed technicians availability and allowed the user to pay for the installation service fee and first month of service. AT&T purchased an RTR (Reliable Transaction Router) that allowed for more secure transaction processing. I was familiar with RTRs coming from a banking industry. Due to the funding constraints and resources skill set the system used Active X to port Visual Basic components to the Web. This application was later updated to use a different solution due to the security risks later discovered with Active X controls.
Financial Analyst
09/1992-12/1997 Northern Trust Company Chicago, IL
Was responsible for reconciling all commercial bank transactions completed the previous day by bank tellers. Daily net balances had to be reconciled to a zero balance. If variance existed an investigation was required to identify what caused the variance and correct as soon as possible.
Experience acquired in working on the implementation for the new family of Funds “The Northern Trust Funds”, provided me the experience in writing Business Requirements, reviewing/testing GUI designs and completing UAT. This experience provided me opportunities to work on other projects, such as, the implementation of new RTRs (Reliable Transaction Routers) in the commercial banking infrastructure.
Based on experience of working with different types of transactions acquired from my daily reconciliation of commercial banking activities, I assisted IT in writing and executing test cases for different transaction scenarios to ensure the new RTRs being implemented perform as expected.
Continued working with IT as RTRs were established with different financial institutions and eCommerce sites. Became more involved with assisting IT organization with identifying how to package transactions that allowed for proper roll back when transactions failed. This would allow the system to return to its previous state prior to the failure of the transactions versus having to write code in systems to Rollback. Also involved in identifying how many deadlocks RTRs could handle.
Helped IT create messages sent to front ends when transactions failed. RTRs become a standard for all infrastructures that required financial transactions with other financial institution and outside Web sites. Promoted to Finance after acquiring expert level knowledge of transaction processing acquired through working on RTR projects.
Managed and administered Death Administration fees for Executor and Probate Trust accounts. Automated the process of calculating fees by creating EXCEL application that recalculated fees every month.
Responsible for allocating trust fees to all affiliates. Identified a trust account error in one of the funds that could have resulted in millions of dollars in lost fees for the company and significant balance errors in our client’s Trust accounts. I identify the error and rushed to Trust Accounting department and made them aware of the error. They fixed the error before trust fees posted to GL and balances to the Trust accounts. This eliminated embarrassing situation of explaining error to our client’s. Northern Trust usually does not provide bonuses. Due to the significant consequences if error wasn’t discovered, I did received a bonus for identifying error.
Successfully worked on moving all Trust Fee billing to a quarterly cycle versus monthly and quarterly cycle depending on affiliates. This change leverage same process, systems and resources of quarterly process resulting in a 55% reduction in annual expenses in the Personal Fee Division.
Assisted portfolio managers with overseeing investment portfolio analysis, file maintenance and broker verification to identify trends.
