WORK EXPERIENCE.

1) Working as Special Correspondent in Apex Press and Publishing since Jan 2014. Here I cover business-related developments for their publication ‘Muscat Daily’, most widely read newspaper in the country and ‘Business Today’, the Sultanate’s oldest business magazine. Since the past six years, I have been continuously producing well-researched articles on the economy, trade, and hydrocarbon sector. I have written numerous articles about how movements in oil prices have impacted investments, social fabric and overall development of the region. I also got first-hand experience in writing about major developments related to oil and gas sector.

2) Worked as Senior Correspondent in Tickerplant, a Financial Technologies group company (MCX) from June 2013 to December 2013, covering commodities and forex markets. Here I used to prepare a detailed research report at regular intervals on commodities trade. My responsibilities also include writing marker commentaries and providing insight on all major developments that could potentially impact or alter the direction of trade.

3) Worked as Correspondent in Reuters, the world’s largest news organization, from Jan 2011 to March 2013 with Commodities and Energy team, covering development in both Indian and overseas markets particularly related to metals and farm segment. Working with Reuters helped in understanding the global perspective of businesses and also got an opportunity to write special reports related to global trades, and businesses.

4) Worked as Senior Correspondent in PRESS TRUST OF INDIA, South Asia’s largest news agency, from Feb 2007 to Feb 2011, covering beats such as Commodities, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industries, and Agriculture. While covering them for the country’s largest news organization, I have gained reasonable expertise in these fields and have broken a good amount of stories.

5) Worked with THE POLITICAL AND BUSINESS DAILY in New Delhi as a special correspondent from April 2006 to January 2007. In the paper, I was responsible for covering the happenings related to the sectors such as oil and gas, bullion and fertilizers.

6) Worked with THE FINANCIAL WORLD, (Punjab’s leading business paper) as a staff reporter in Chandigarh from June 2005 to Mar 2006. Primarily responsible for reporting and writing on major developments related to fertilizers, chemicals and agriculture in Northern India.

7) Worked part-time in a health magazine ‘Drug One’ from August 2002 to August 2004 as a freelancer, main responsibility was to liaison with teachers, university professors and others to ensure that they keep writing informative articles for the magazine.

Boxing Silver Medalist in All Assam Sub Junior Championship. Published Articles in newspapers and magazine in school and college. Won numerous quiz competitions at school, college and university level.
