Established in 1967,UCAN is a privately owned Canadian manufacturer of construction fastening products.

I joined UCAN in May 2018 when the company was transitioning from an older generation leadership to a new generation. My mandate as a senior leader was managing change throughout the company during the transition period. In this role I reported to the president with the following departments working under supervision: Sales, Engineering, Quality Control, Distribution Centre, Marketing, Human Resources, IT and Finance. The transition period was substantially completed in July 2019.

Achievements

The following is a brief list of my accomplishments during this 14 months period

Developed a strategy for the company using internal and external analytical techniques. SWOT Analysis.

Hired seven account managers, onboarded and trained them.

Developed the job description for the sales manger.

Hired two sales managers, onboarded and trained them.

Developed and implemented the onboarding and training program for the sales team using internal and external resources, followed by ongoing coaching for the sales team.

Developed sales plans for individual regions.

Managed key construction projects in the country together with the sales team

Developed and implemented the compensation plan for the account managers.

National Business Line Manager Surface mine Drilling and underground Tunneling

Responsible for

Developing, implementing and maintaining strategic business plan for the Sandvik construction’s Surface Drilling and Tunneling product lines in Canada.

Managing a portfolio of $15 million sales revenue with P&L responsibility.

Managing Canadian surface drilling distributor network.

Actively leading a national team of 5 distributors and 3 direct sales team (in Quebec) to support growth targets for the product lines in Canada.

Setting up annual plan and budget for distributors across Canada.

Managing implementation of the distributor business plan through regular dealer visits and quarterly reviews.

Implementing joint customer presentation and demonstrations together r with the dealer team.

Introducing new products to the distributors through training presentations.

Leading a team of service mechanics, jointly with the national service manager to provide service for the distributors and tunneling projects.

Preparing and negotiating service contracts and life cycle service agreements for the product lines with focus on larger construction projects.

Achievements

Developed and implemented long and short term national strategy for surface drilling and tunneling business lines in Canada.

Followed through the distributor strategy implementation through quarterly performance reviews.

Gained a detailed and hands on experience with the SANDVIK product lines particularly the road headers.

Distributor network sales and profit revenue exceeded budget two years in a row: in 2012 (by 5.3%) and 2013 (by 7.2%).

Won and managed projects for Sandvik tunneling (direct sales) including the multi-billion-dollar Ottawa Light Rail Transit (OLRT) project

Managed and lead the OLRT project and the three MT720 road headers at the project Ottawa site ensuring on time and on budget project progress. Activities included finalizing the service contract, managing the Austrian team at site, closing the deal for the cutter picks, managing the high valued critical spare parts and handling the warranty claims.

Worked closely with and lead an international project teams at the Sandvik factory in Zeltweg, Chateauguay, Brier Hill plant and US counterparts.

Successfully introduced two new surface drill models to the distributor network, resulting in $3 million incremental revenue.

Signed a new distributorship agreement for the Manitoba province
