A resourceful assistant civil engineer with experience and skillset in infrastructure design from the initial conceptual stage, through a feasibility study and detailed design. Civil Engineering skills: A skilled Civil Engineer with experience in managing various constructions for example; roads. Also able to prepare and interpret design drawings to meet in-site conditions.

Structural Design Techniques: Capable of designing a process that seeks to meet the desired needs by foreseeing future problems that may curtail a project I am working on.

Site Safety and Control: Successfully ensured site safety among workers around the construction site by making sure they are in protective gear and are following the safety precautions required.

Report writing: Experienced in writing project reports regarding the budget, its progress and details involved in the project in addition to preparing detailed contracts.

Leadership and Supervisory Skills: Ability to manage and review the work of contractors, setting goals for the team and ensuring quality, construction standards.

Assistant Resident Engineer

Kenya Rural Roads Authority in the Improvement to Bitumen Standard and Maintenance of Ololunga-Mukenyo Road (RWC 127) in Narok County; September 2017 to Date

Duties and Responsibilities

Carrying out the administration of construction contract works and assisting the Resident Engineer with the prompt exchange of correspondence and requesting information to the contractor.

Orienting, assigning and supervising the construction inspection staff daily so that all contractor activities are adequately covered.

Supervising and remaining vigilant regarding all aspects of the construction activities.

Orienting inspectors to verify that the contractor is following his approved site Health & Safety plan.

Reviewing the contractor's progress at all times. Monitoring the material incorporated in the work, the materials stored at the site and the contractor's manpower and equipment.

Attending weekly, monthly and other progress meetings held at the site as required by the Resident Engineer. Identifying constraints and recommending corrective measures.

Reviewing inspector's daily reports and preparation of engineer's daily diary and general oversight of inspector's daily activities including works assignments, on-site performance and guidance on the supervision of the contractor's operations.

Coordination with contractor's supervisory personnel regarding schedule, sequence and method of work.

Continuous inspections and consultation with the Resident Engineer including the preparation of written and oral reports to the Resident Engineer on contractual and procedural matters.

Ensuring performance of the work in strict accordance with the drawings, plans and specifications.

Frequently coordinating with the Contractor's Senior Construction Manager in charge of the to ensure that no issues are encountered.

Reporting to the Resident Engineer of any failure of the Contractor to conform to drawings, plans and specifications and to provide good workmanship.

Assisting the Resident Engineer in monitoring the Contractor’s progress of the works.
