Re: Cover Letter and Resume
Date: July, 2020
With the enclosed resume, I would like to make you aware of my extensive background as an experienced educator who’s highly developed supervisory, administrative, and communication skills have been proven in a solid track record of twenty-seven years in education and instructional leadership. My ability to multi-task, manage and communicate effectively learned from managing a classroom would also make you a good manager or project leader. . My communication, people-centric nature, and eagerness to please have afforded me excellent critical thinking skills.
I worked with the building leadership to analyze data to make informed decisions. These skills have helped me in regard to supervising various education programs. In k-12education, the focus has been to better address the needs of our students in the lowest twenty percent achievement. With this in mind, I implemented programs that helped address the needs of our students in the lowest 20% of achievement. I facilitated a number of programs to address the needs of at-risk students. I implemented a research-based check in check out self-monitoring system that assisted students in taking ownership of their learning. Students that participated in this program have showed significant improvement in their behavior and grades. I also developed the Young Men of Promise Leadership program. With the assistance of community members and consultants from The Ohio State University, this program exposed students to goal setting, college preparation, and helped them recognize the importance of leadership. I recently spearheaded a mentoring program through my fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, for high school males. The Omega Gents mentoring program has received national attentionand a $ 5000 stipend to continue the program.
As an educator, I work hard to encourage my students to become active participants in their own education. It is essential that staff make sure that students have a clear understanding of the learning target and task requirements within each lesson. Encouraging teachers to have tasks reflect higher order thinking and student inquiry. I believe we all learn best when we are involved in the learning process. I believe student and teacher success is accomplished using a Learning Community framework. This model focuses on shared mission, vision, values, and goals with a focus of collaboration.
My personal definition of education is being committed to apply the knowledge learned to one's life through encouragement in challenging students and staff to reach their full potential. As a lifelong educator, I want to pass on to my personal knowledge and experience in which can help guide their learning in independent thinking and good decision making. Students and staff will see from me a commitment to excellence and the skills as an honest and direct communicator. I aspire to establish a culture conducive to learning and socialization. I seek to promote staff professional growth and development, as well as teamwork and cooperation. I coordinate my efforts with those of parents and family members to essure students remain disciplined and focused, and receive appropriate attention to meet their needs. I am excited to contribute my strengths and proficiency in customer service toward your team efforts. As an extroverted and personable communicator with a proven track record, my focus on building strong professional relationships has been a valuable asset throughout my career.
I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you in person so we can further discuss in detail how my diverse skills and experience will allow me to be an assett to your team.
