Primary care/Family medicine (8 weeks):
oOHSU Family Medicine Clinic in Scappoose, OR. Provided care to patients in a rural and underserved community setting, provided medication assistance for opiate use disorder, performed suturing, biopsy, and joint injections, provided annual wellness visits to pediatric-adult patients, contraceptive counseling, GYN care including PAP smears, counseling on sexually transmitted infections and recommendations for testing, management of common chronic conditions including hypertension, diabetes, generalized anxiety disorder, and depression, provided dermatological care.
oOHSU Family Medicine Clinic in Multnomah Village Portland, OR. Provided GYN care including PAP smears, contraceptive counseling, performed IUD insertions, assisted with Nexplanon insertions, provided transgender care including hormone replacement therapy, provided annual wellness visits to pediatric-adult patients, performed trigger point injections, performed joint aspiration, provided care to patients with common chronic health conditions including hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and hypertension, provided counseling to patients considering bariatric surgery, provided behavioral health care to patients with substance use disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, and depression.
Emergency General Surgery at OHSU Hospital Portland, OR (4 weeks). Provided care to many patients with substance use disorders, mental health concerns, and who are otherwise medically underserved. Assisted in debridement of multiple cases of Fournier’s Gangrene, and necrotizing fasciitis of the upper extremity due to injection drug use, assisted in laparoscopic procedures including appendectomies, cholecystectomies, ERCP, and cholangiogram, assisted in open laparotomies for small and large bowl obstructions, a case of congenital malrotation, and large bowel perforations, provided care to patients postoperatively taking into consideration opiate use disorder, medication assisted treatment as appropriate, mental health concerns, and utilized social services as needed for discharge and post-hospital care, provided wound management care and performed wound vac changes intraoperatively and at the bedside.
Inpatient medicine at OHSU Hospital Portland, OR (4 weeks). Provided care to a patient in sickle cell crisis, worked closely with the IMPACT team to provide appropriate medication assisted treatment for substance use disorders, worked closely with the transplant team on viability of a patient for liver transplant, performed thoracentesis and paracentesis, used point of care ultrasound at bedside as a diagnostic tool for plural effusion and ascites, worked closely with my team on a very lengthy and complicated case involving substance use, mental health, family care conferences, and ultimately transfer to inpatient psychiatric care.
Behavioral Medicine at Hooper Detox and Stabilization Center Portland, OR (4 weeks). Provided medication assisted detox and stabilization of patients with opiate, alcohol, benzodiazepine, methamphetamine, and combined substance use disorders in addition to co-managing psychiatric and comorbid medical conditions, performed I&D of simple abscesses, worked with counselors to assist in placing patients once medically stable.
Orthopedics Portland, OR (4 weeks). Assisted in total knee and total hip replacement surgeries, ORIF for displaced radial head fractures, displaced distal radial fractures, displaced and comminuted 4th metacarpal fracture, diagnosed dupuytren's contracture, trigger finger, and de Quervain’s tenosynovitis with recommendations for appropriate treatment, performed steroid joint injections and assisted in surgical correction when appropriate, read plain film radiographs for osteoarthritis of the knees and hips and of fractures of the hand, wrist, and elbow.

Elective Rotations:
OB/GYN at Legacy Health Portland, OR (3 weeks). Assisted in vaginal and cesarean deliveries, tubal ligations, vaginal total hysterectomies, dermoid ovarian cyst removal, intraoperative diagnosis of a hydrosalpinx and salpingectomy, hysteroscopy and polypectomy, performed NST and read fetal heart rate monitors, provided GYN specialty care including vulvar dermatology, provided OB care through all stages of pregnancy with a focus on women over the age of 35, provided management of preeclampsia, provided routine pelvic exams and pap smears including annual wellness exams.
Independent Study Portland, OR (16 weeks). Variety of synchronous and independent learning with a focus on cardiac conditions, pulmonology, GI and Liver diseases, hematologic conditions, reading course in opiate use disorder and the medicalization/biomedicalization of addiction, presentation on literature review from opiate use disorder reading course, a course in surgical trauma and intensive care medicine, and coursework on EKG reading. Work included a variety of online learning modules and case-based learning, creation of study guides, videos, lectures, and small and large group work.
Clinical Skills Training: includes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), suturing, casting/splinting, sterile procedure, basic laparoscopy skills, urinalysis, injections, venipuncture, and tubes/catheter placement
Additional Didactic Content: includes health systems, medical errors, and pain management
