ACADEMIC PROJECTS:
AUTOMATIC NIGHT LAMP (B.TECH MINI PROJECT):
DESCRIPTION: A simple automatic night lamp circuit or dark activated lamp circuit, which will automatically activate a lamp / bulb when sun set or if the circuit will receive no light.
WORKING: The LDR is working as a light/dark sensor and Transistor BC548 is working as a switch. When light falls on the LDR its resistance will decrease and the BC548 will remain in the off condition but when the LDR will receive no light its resistance increases which will switch on the BC548 and voltage will start passing through the BC548 which will power on the lamp.
AC POWER TRANSFER WIRELESSLY BY HF (B.TECH MAJOR PROJECT):
DESCRIPTION: The main concept of this project is to transfer the AC power wirelessly from a power source to electrical loads using a high-frequency resonating air core transformer to develop the frequency from 50Hz to 40 KHz for transferring power over a distance of 3cm.
WORKING: This project is built upon using an electronic circuit that converts AC 230V 50Hz to AC 12V, High frequency. The output is fed to a tuned coil forming as primary of an air-core transformer. The secondary coil develops a voltage of HF 12volt. Thus, the transfer of power is done from the primary (transmitter) to the secondary, which is separated with a considerable distance (say 3cm). Therefore, the transfer could be seen as the primary transmission and the secondary receives the power to run the load.
ZERO LOADING TECHNIQUE TO DETERMINE CLOSE RANGE FREQUENCIES AND REDUCTION OF NOISE USING WINDOW FUNCTIONS (M.Tech project):
DESCRIPTION: Power transformers are important part of the power systems. Frequency Response Analysis
(FRA) is an accepted diagnostic tool to identify the fault within a power transformer. Some frequencies appear very close to each other in FRA and hence their relative strength may remain obscure. In order to obtain frequency response characteristics with clarity, additional temporal data is required to be used. In order to separate them a method called zero loading technique has been suggested.
WORKING: In Zero loading technique, the method followed is that all values beyond measured duration is assigned a zero magnitude in the absence of required data. This method is quick and easy to implement and the results were quite encouraging.
The paper on this research work has been published in 2nd National Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Technology (NCHVET) which was held in Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) Bangalore on 27-28 January 2017, TRAFOSEM 2017 which was held by ITMA in New Delhi on 5th May 2017 and International Conference on Electrical, Electronics, Computers, Communication, Mechanical and Computing (EECCMC) which was held on 28 & 29 January 2018 in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.
