Personal Statement:

Recently completed Masters in Engineering Project Management at the University of Leeds, looking to secure a Junior Procurement Engineer or Project Coordinator role to help me further develop the skills in a practical and fast-paced environment. My eventual goal is to land a senior Project Manager role in a company where I would be able to shape policies, improve organizational productivity and provide team direction and support.

Education:

Course Content: Gained thorough understanding of a range of topics affecting how construction and engineering projects are managed. Topics such as project cash flow, risk management, project appraisals and stakeholder relationship management were examined. The course also focused on key topics such as project funding, especially for major infrastructure projects, as well as procurement management and supply chain issues. The process of value engineering, the concepts of value management and opportunity management were also covered in depth.

Skills: Delivered three presentations during this course. This experience has enabled me to indulge in organizational group activities such as forming a “value management workshop” and “brainstorming for risk management”. The presentations allowed me to improve my ability to design, structure, execute PowerPoint and Excel presentations as well as helped me to become a confident speaker. In addition to using the tools and techniques that are used by project managers, the course also gave me opportunities to examine the issues and challenges they currently face and consider them in a “whole life project” context.

Dissertation: A 23,000-word dissertation about Business models in construction companies and its implications on competitive advantage.

Skills: This dissertation enhanced my ability to handle, analyse and interpret data before presenting it based on the overall analysis made. The data collection and analysis has also helped me to design and develop enhanced business models for the future business start-ups.
