EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, The College of New Jersey, School of Engineering, Ewing, NJ May 2020 SKILLS

Laboratory: Nuclear magnetic resonance, Cell Culture, Chromatography, Fluorescent microscopy, PCR, gel electrophoresis, antibody staining, western blots, DNA and RNA isolation, in-situ analysis, Instron, mechanical testing. Computer: Python, MATLAB, ANSYS, SOLIDWORKS, SIMULINK, ESI Computation Fluid Dynamics, Microsoft Office. WORK EXPERIENCE

Hospital for Special Surgery/Weill Cornell Hospital, Research Assistant, Manhattan, NY June 2018-December 2019 Intervertebral Disc and Spine Regeneration Project (Principal Investigator Dr. Chitra Dahia)

• Responsible for troubleshooting, implementing, and conducting whole organ culture models to investigate the effect of small molecule therapies on the mouse intervertebral disc.

• Investigated biomechanical properties of the spine for impact on disc degeneration.

• Conducted experiments showing immobilization of the spine resulted in pathological changes leading to deterioration of the intervertebral disc (IVD).

• Utilized knockout mouse model to identify molecular mechanisms for postnatal growth, differentiation, aging, degeneration, and growth of the IVD to help translate into approaches for treatment of the lower back and disc related disorders.

• Assisted in experiments showing how the manipulation of certain molecular mechanisms affected Shh and Wnt signaling pathways to result in potential spine regeneration.

• Collaborated with post-doctorate researchers to conduct gene expression, Western Blots, and immunohistochemistry analyses to generate data required to support various hypotheses.

Stevens Institute of Technology, Undergraduate Research Student, Hoboken, NJ June-August 2017 Tissue Regeneration Program (Principal Investigator Dr. Raviraj Nataraj)

• Created a platform for clinical use that utilized MRI data to inform a musculoskeletal optimization routine in identifying functional motion to reduce risk of further injury. The routine was created to be applicable anywhere in the body without any anatomical limitation.

• Investigated the development of multifaceted procedures and movements of the body to help identify optimal motions for patients with various injuries and minimize stress while exercising.

• Assisted the development of a multi-model methodology and regimen, through gait analysis and MRI imaging, to decrease joint stress and improve sports rehabilitation.

Healing Hands Physical Therapy, Physical Therapist Assistant, Somerset, NJ June 2012 – August 2016

• Gained hands-on clinical experience as a physical therapist assistant, aiding in patient exercise activities and gaining valuable insight observing the decision-making process of healthcare professionals in managing patient care.

• Aided patients with physical movements to help restore function and mitigate pain/disability. Worked with patients suffering from debilitating conditions such as back pain, arthritis, fractures, and sports injuries.

• Identified equipment and devices best suited for each patient’s clinical condition. DESIGN PROJECTS

• Designed a handheld device which utilized vibrations in resonance with the body’s natural cilia beat frequency to loosen mucus for Cystic Fibrosis and COPD patients. Presented a product from requirements and specifications to design verification and validation. o Adhered to the FDA/ISO standards and classifications. o Scoped the product to realistic constraints and conducted thorough risk analysis. o Leveraged organizational tools (Gantt Chart) for more efficient product management.

• Developed a MATLAB multicompartment pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic model to predict the behavior of an OTC pharmaceutical (Acetaminophen).

• Reconstructed CT and MRI images using MATLAB to generate images similar to those in a clinical setting.

• Modeled a 3D structure of a femur using SOLIDWORKS and investigated the tensile and fracture properties.

• Simulated mechanical testing and evaluated design parameters to optimize structural and mechanical properties using ANSYS.

• Experimentally evaluated the dependency of engineering parameters, such as Young’s Modulus and ultimate strength, with the specimens’ thickness and its aluminum series.
