Dear Sir/Madam,
Please accept this letter and the accompanying resume as an expression of my interest for the position of Mechanical Engineer at your organization.
Recently I’ve completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Biosystems from The University of the West Indies. I am applying to your organization because I believe that it is an organization in which my effective performance will be met with recognition and growth.
Over the years I have gained knowledge of machines at the University with the help of various courses. Some of these courses included Mechanics of Machines, Industrial Instrumentation, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Vibrations, Control Systems Technology and Maintenance and Safety Engineering just to name a few.
I have acquired a sound overall knowledge of leading edge engineering principles, tools and practices, with emphasis on designing, building and testing of mechanical systems. I am proficient in the use of various automated solutions including current releases of Fusion 360 and Solidworks.
I have applied classroom learning to innovative and successful projects in which served as sole or principal designer.
In addition to the experience gained from my many practical activities at the University of the West Indies, I have also been employed as a Production Technician at Ansa Polymer in the Extrusion department over two years. As a Production Technician, I’ve learned how to operate, troubleshoot and perform maintenance on various machines, quite quickly and efficiently as well as manage a team of Production Operators to carry out daily functions. I also created Standard Operating Procedures for the machines in my respective department as well as a Health and Safety Procedure.
I believe that I would be an asset to your company once given the opportunity. I am confident that I have the necessary skills, attributes and professional demeanor to perform at a high level in the position. Please find my attached my resume with additional information about my educational background and experiences.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss my qualifications for the position more fully in an interview. Thank you for your consideration and I’m looking forward to meeting with you soon.
Yours respectfully,
