AAR Airlift, 03/18 – Present, Aviation Maintenance Manager

In my current leadership role, I was responsible for 222 personnel (mechanics, ground support personnel, and tool room attendants) and all maintenance on rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft across seven US Department of State (DoS) sites (Patrick AFB, Iraq, Afghanistan, Peru, Panama, Costa Rica, and Guatemala), in support of the US DoS, Bureau for Diplomatic Security under oversight from the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A). He is also responsible for hiring all mechanics, implementing maintenance practices for the workforce, and consulting with DoS on maintenance processes across the program.

Leidos Innovations, 03/17 – 01/18, Production Control Manager/Project Management & Planning Operations Rep Staff

In this role, I was responsible leading a staff of 30 local national workers and third country national mechanics and for conducting day-to-day production control maintenance operations for 33 Mi17 V1/5 helicopters and 18 PC-12 fixed-wing aircraft across three geographic locations. My position involved repairing/servicing aircraft, moving parts, and moving aircraft across the three locations. Additionally, I mentored, assisted, and trained Afghan Army and Air Force personnel on production control maintenance operations and maintenance.

Alsalam Aircraft Company, 12/14 – 08/16, Helicopter Production Manager

While leading a staff of 27 mechanics and back shop personnel I developed a workable, profitable, and motivated Helicopter Maintenance Repair team. This team aided Alsalam in capturing a substantial market share of Helicopter repair and overhaul business within the region.

Defense Support Services (DS2), 04/13 – 12/14, Aviation Maintenance Trainer/Site Administrative Lead

In this role, I taught and trained Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) soldiers to repair and maintain the MD530 helicopter. This training included using technical manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, and the proper way to fill out an aircraft logbook. Prepared and edited all maintenance training lesson plans in accordance with the US Army Office of Program Management (OPM) and SANG. In addition, I served as Administrative Site Lead for DS2 onsite employees including five mechanics and a quality control inspector.

DynCorp International, 07/11 – 04/13, Rotary Wing Maintenance Manager (Baghdad, Iraq)

In this leadership role, I was responsible for the welfare and safety of over 100 mechanics, 12 ground support personnel, and the maintenance of all rotary-wing aircraft (UH- 1N/ST, S-61, and MD530), ground support equipment (GSE), fuel handling equipment, and other aviation related assets across four sites in lraq (Baghdad Biap, Baghdad US Embassy, Basrah, and Erbil) in support of the US DoS, Bureau for Diplomatic Security (OS), under oversight from the Bureau for INL/A in the Republic of Iraq. In addition, I also served in the Fleet Aviation Manager role when necessary. I was responsible for the rotary- and fixed-wing maintenance for the country. I was responsible for hiring and disciplining all mechanics and implementing maintenance practices for the Iraq program.

US Army Positions, 06/90 – 07/11:

Executive Officer/Battalion Safety Officer (Fort Eustis, VA), 04/09 – 07/11

I was responsible for overseeing the well-being of officers, enlisted soldiers, and civilians on safety, training, and advising. He created and maintained a safety program for over 1500 staff. I was able to decrease accident rates by over 20% by training leaders to make accident prevention and safety a top priority. In this role, Joe supervised the training of nine senior Noncommissioned Officers and 150 students. He also analyzed and tracked data to ensure full compliance with regulations. I was able to maximize student success by assessing problems, researching options, and identifying and implementing solutions.

Aviation Maintenance Manager/Mechanic/Technical Supply Officer (Fort Lewis, WA), 07/05 – 03/09

I was responsible for armament electronics/avionics of 40 aircraft (UH-60 & OH-58D) and Class 9 Air supply transactions. I supervised a staff of 40. I was recognized as a moving force by positively impacting daily operations and influencing process improvements throughout the department. I was assigned to the internal unit Aviation Resource Management Survey (ARMS) team. I created a reset program for the 50-caliber machine gun that enabled the Battalion to be war ready in less than 60 days, significantly reducing equipment downtime. In addition, I managed the maintenance of 40 rotor-wing aircraft located in three different locations. I served as subject matter expert on Electronic/Armament Avionics issues. I also cultivated an environment of high morale and team cohesion. I was praised for consistently leading teams to "go the distance" within tight deadlines in adverse situations. In this role, I led the Battalion to accomplish every mission, even with personnel and equipment located in three different areas while deployed to Iraq. I was responsible for maintaining over 640 lines of Prescribed Load List and over 1000 lines of bench stock. I was able to save the Battalion thousands of dollars by ensuring parts were returned in a timely manner, and expensive instruments and weapons were repaired on location.

Aviation Maintenance Supervisor (Camp Humphries, Korea), 01/04 – 12/04

In this Supervisor position, I was responsible for armament avionics, training, supply transactions, advising, leadership, and technical knowledge for 21 aircraft (AH-64D).

I was recognized for improving operations through an aggressive inventory control and organized work order system. This initiative reduced repair time by 50%, enabling aircraft to achieve fly status twice as fast. I was responsible for revamping a disorganized supply system, saving the government thousands of dollars. I also supervised over 30 personnel in Armament Avionics maintenance (AH-64D), ensuring peak efficiency and reliability to increase productivity while decreasing overtime. Worked diligently to complete numerous aerial gunneries without incident. In addition, I inspected all weapon systems prior to take-off for cleanliness and proper installation to ensure equipment was completely operational and safe for flight.

Aviation Platform Instructor (Fort Rucker, AL), 01/01 - 03/03

As an Instructor, I taught rotors and drive systems, cockpit (engine start-up and shut down procedures), weapons, and emergency procedures to over 200 American and Foreign National pilots. I built a solid foundation for the demanding pilot training program, which was completed with a 100% pass rate. Made the extra effort to extend and supplement training for less experienced pilots. In addition, served as part of a team, which collaborated with contractors to upgrade simulator training.

Crew Chief/Platoon Sergeant (lllesheim, Germany), 02/95 – 01/01

As a Crew Chief, I maintained, repaired, and prepared two aircraft (AH-64A) for flight. In his dual role as Platoon Sergeant, he was responsible for the welfare of ten soldiers and ensured mission capable status of eight aircraft (AH-64A). Built a reputation for having the safest aircraft. I took pride in adherence to stringent regulations. Joe led a team to exceed expectations for individual and group performance. Consistently maintained a Mission Capable rating above Army standards and meticulously documented all maintenance actions in log books. I was selected for Platoon Sergeant position over eight senior candidates because of technical proficiency and leadership qualities.

Crew Chief (Fort Polk, LA/Fort Hood, TX), 12/90 – 02/95

In this position, I maintained, repaired, and prepared one aircraft (AH-64A) for flight. Graduated number 2 out 12 in Advanced Individual Training Course. I was able to advance rapidly due to his ability to produce superior results in a fast paced environment. I was able to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues with little or no supervision and consistently sought out leadership on ways to be more technically proficient. Was named "Top Crew Chief' for consistently going the extra mile to enhance safety, save time, and decrease costs.
