Silicon Carbide Senior Research Undergraduate Researcher, November 2019 – March 2020
• As one of the only undergraduate researchers working in the NRF cleanroom, I work to identify the cheapest and most efficient way to etch silicon carbide wafers.
• Develop and maintain a process flow for metal deposition and photolithography on the deposited metal surface.
o Study scientific papers and previous process flows to decide a general course of action. o Inspect the metal deposition quality and thickness using profilometry. o Ensure that the exposed photoresist pattern had wells of depth 1.3um.
• Collect SEM images of patterned samples for quality control. o Strip photoresist if the images are too low resolution. o Metal lift off if necessary, to circumvent the damage caused to the deposited metal by the developer.
• Etch metal mask under patterned photoresist, then lift off remaining photoresist.
• Etch underlying substrate SiC with the patterned metal above it. Semiconductor Career Readiness Organization Researcher/Club Member, May 2018 – May 2020
• Developed MOSCAP devices on pre-doped silicon wafers, learning and refining skills in standard fabrication processes.
o I diluted the BOE etchant solution by 11%, increasing the etch time by 2 seconds to solve an undercutting issue.
• Assembled an eyeball helmet that tracks the users’ eye movement with LEDs, an Arduino, and a water strainer.
o This included soldering wires together to build the circuit that controlled the eyeball. Network for Computational Nanotechnology Undergraduate Researcher Undergraduate Research Experience May 2019 - August 2019
• Engaged with a team to create a software simulation tool in Python that allowed users to identify stable child material structures from bulk parent structures via supercomputing. o The program interprets an existing bulk structure, simulates its atomic characteristics, and identifies potentially stable child structures within it. Eg. Graphene in graphite.
• Presented the software simulation tool developed by my team at Purdue University. o Created a poster and presented it at the SURF (Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship) Symposium hosted at Purdue University, and create a video presentation to preface both my research poster and the importance of the research done by my team.
