Responsibilities

Leadership role to build and migrate AECL datacentre network based on Cisco Nexus 7010 /5548/5596 and 2248/2232, Catalyst6513, 7200, ASA and ACE to support server farm of F5 ARX-2000 switches, HP BladeSystem with 3120X and c7000 with Flex-10 switches, HP P4500/P2000 storages, Windows/UNIX servers and VMware. Design and validate the network solutions, create test plan and case, instruct to install and configure hardware, and support new infrastructure.

Discover current client environment, business model, day to day operation, deployed management tools, and technical constraints. Study RFC and SOW, provide pre-design presentation, and define features and functionalities associated to the technology and solution. Key role on a large-scale international network project ($15M) to integrate RBC international networks into RBC core. Performed network assessment and gap analysis, designed and architected 4 datacentres with core LAN, WAN/MPLS/DWDM, server farms and extranet, covering RBC OCC, GCC, Capital Market, RBTT bank and hundreds of domestic and international branches.

Generated architecture solution documents, evaluated network devices, and created bill of material (BoM). Produced test plan, built QA and OAT lab networks. Designed and reviewed IP addressing schema and OSPF and BGP topologies. Produced diagrams and documents, provided 3rd level support to telecom implementation. Key architect in large-scale projects to architect and implement 2 new datacentres for Sears Canada, build and migrated a datacentre for Home Depot Canada. Designed and built entire DMZ, front end, back end and database server farm infrastructure, performed network assessment, recommended new technologies, made decision in test plans, and produced all detailed documents.

Designed and architected datacentre core LAN topology, N-tier security infrastructure, and server farm load-balancing. Utilized Cisco Catalyst 6500E, VSS, ASA5500, IDS, GSS4400, ACE and CSS11500 to build new datacentres and merge them with 4 existing ones. Responsibilities:

Key role in large scale project ($5M) - WAN upgrade that covered whole Rogers enterprise network from coast to coast, including 10 regional sites in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa and Moncton. Redesigned 100+ core LAN links in 2 main datacentres and regional campuses, upgraded core WAN between datacentres to 10G and migrated 500+ regional WAN links.

Provided senior consultation to Rogers Enterprise architect team, designed and implemented enterprise network solution. Tasks included network analysis, devices determination and ordering, site survey and architectural design, staging configuration, implementation plan and schedule documentation, on-site change and cut-over, and on-site and remote support.
