Summary of Qualifications:

Over 20 years experience in designing, building and engineering numerous automotive production line tools. Hands on experience with die and tooling design reviews. Development, building, trials, follow up, buy-off and plant installation. Extensive work in overseas tool and die build shops in China. Property Developer. (12-2016, present) Investment properties purchase by me in 2008 consisting of 950 sq. ft. with walkout on Lake Huron. I installed 400 amp electric including new service for two meters. All new plumbing and adding another full bath and laundry room. Installed new basement concrete slab with hydronic hot water heat. Designed hydronic unit and did all hookups. All new windows, doors, and Package Terminal A/C unit for the hot summer days.

Process Stamping Dies to produce parts to manufacture Stoves and built in Ovens. This was a New Plant start up. 50% and 100% Die design review with Vendors from China and S. Korea. Goal was to bring in Dies that were Press ready and with Die protection. Follow up and Buy off of Stamping Dies thought out the USA.

Following 80 Dies for a GM program, D1BLI / Cadillac “ELR” in Shanghai China. (To be built in US)

ITS also sent me to Shanghai China to follow up on the build of 56 Ford Dies that would be used to convert the Ford Focus gas car to a all electric car. These Dies were built at 3 different shops around the greater Shanghai China area. My other responsibilities in China were the supervision of the GM wheel house Die for the Gamma SUV in Mexico. I also did the Cadillac front hood PTR buy off at Shanghai GM assembly Plant. Follow up on 24 Tesla Dies including the aluminum outer and inner front hood assembly. Many other parts were aluminum. Tool kick off and 50%/100% Tool design reviews on all of these Dies.

Project Engineer Tool assembly and Stamping Die build (Contractor) (02/2010-08/2010)

Review Die and Tool build process and formability studies. Inspect suppliers’ facilities in Mexico. Help resolve build issues on the new GM Sonic and preventing future build issues.

JR industries, Detroit, Mi. (09/2008-12/2009)

Special Tool Designer (Contractor). General Motors. Detroit, Hamtramck, Mi.

I was responsible for design and build of many Tools that were needed for assembly of the A.C. units on the V 6 model of the Buick Lucerne. These tools were developed for the purpose and ease of assembly and safety. There were Ergonomic concerns with the Line workers and Management. I implemented Tooling aids so that A.C. hoses were not caught in the marriage of the chassis to Body on the assemble Line. This ended the risk of damage hoses and the operators trying to untangle them. I provided design for tools to install H.D. brake rotors and other brake component on the Cadillac DTS Professional vehicle.

Pullman Industries Inc. /Noble Metal Processing Inc. Warren, Mi. (03/2006-06/2008)

New Model Launch Support (Contractor) –

Tooling and Machine build follow up and Tool Processing including large and small progressive/line class” A” dies for the 2008 Cadillac CTS 322 and Buick Enclave 967 S.U.V. door build.

I was responsible for many Rolled Formed Class “A” and Stamped Class “A” surface parts that were stretch bent to a form then were Mitered Sawed. I was involved with all the Hemming issues and the dimensional sizes of the stampings and Formed parts. These parts were then loaded in weld cells and I became the dimensional Engineer on the fit and the finish of the many parts involved (8 doors in all).

Designed many clamping pads and tuning screws to adjust the Class “A” surfaces and hem edges to a line to each other so the robotic welding and metal grinding and finishing would be successful.

Hands on leader of the Machine Builders in assembly and development of these special machines. Other responsibilities were engineering changes and process changes to accommodate the G. M. pilot build. There were many Class “A” dies that I had reground and hand finish to improve the pre-hem and hemmed corners of the B and C pillars.

Sought ways to improve quality and dimensional consistently by training and instructing team leaders and production members in part checking in stamping, hemming and welding, to the fit at the body shop at the new Delta Lansing MI, G.M plant.

General Motors Detroit - Hamtramck, Mi. (01/2005- 03/2006)

Manufacturing Tool Engineer (Contractor) –

Lead activities on improving existing paint tooling.

Teamed with Quality on troubleshooting painting/priming operations. (Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS)

Built a Paint Bell test stand and many other paint shop tools to improve yield and reduce down time and cycle times.

Developed and introduced new tools to paint front deck lids for painting by robot. This reduces 3 men on the Paint Line.

Developed General Assembly ergonomic tooling development for Cadillac DTS Professional Vehicles used for Limousines and armored cars.

Developed a knuckle to strut load tools on chassis line and engine line coil pack wire harness connector tools.

Developed G.M. Orion G6 retractable hard top rear deck paint tooling.

Made modifications to plant equipment to improve operations on the sealer line.

Trained members on the use of tools and got buy-off from Safety and Ergonomic Engineers.

Mazda / Ford Flat Rock, MI. (04/2002–12/2004)

New Model Launch Process. Tool Engineer (Contractor)

For Mazda North American Operations. This is the Auto Alliance International Inc. Ford Mazda Flat Rock MI. Assembly Plant. Joint venture builds the all new 2005 Mazda 6 sedan, hatchback, wagons and new Ford Mustang.

Designed developed and implemented over 175 special ergonomic hand tools and subassembly tables for Body Shop, Axel Shop and Final Assembly Shop

Develop a new convertible top alignment tool that saved the company time, space on the assembly line and $270.000.00. Designed and built an ergonomically safe Axel Pick up Tool and instructed the use of this Tool that handles both the Mazda and the Mustang axels. Saved much needed space on the assembly line, 3 other engineering companies failed at making this tool.

Held meetings with Facility/Tooling Leader Coordinator, Final Launch Process Engineer, Product Design, and Manufacturing Engineers including Team Leaders and Line workers to develop drawings and generate final tooling.

JR Industries, Detroit, MI. (12/2000-04/2002)

Lead Tooling Engineer –

Responsible for designing and building of many hood and door paint fixtures for G.M. paint shops.

Managed the build of prototype and production paint bucks for GM Lake Orion, Detroit Hamtramck, Doraville Georgia and Oshawa Ontario Canada Plant.

Participated in Daimler Chrysler AG Prowler, Saturn SUV, Harley Davison and Ford Electric Focus paint tool development.

Built Compression Molds for Cadillac SRX crossover and was responsible for processing many engineering changes to Dies and Tools.

Designed and built GL8 Buick van paint tooling, retool seat load tooling and sliding door unload tooling in final assembly.
