PIPING ENGINEER

Objectives

Experienced piping engineer with more than 18 years of experience in oil and gas, Mining and petrochemical field. By having worked in significant large-scale projects (green and brown field) FEED, detail design, field engineering as well as PMC (Project Management consultant), I have acquired proficiency in the various facets of piping, pipeline and mechanical engineering. My achievement and experience gained throughout the several projects I was internationally involved in as lead as well as engineer enabled me to develop good technical, organizational skills, analytical/logical approach to tasks and the ability to work under pressure. I am able to work well both on my own initiative and as part of a team.

My main strengths are adaptability, team work and the determination to get a job done as proven by my varied work experiences in design and field engineering, coordination with manufacturers, contractors and clients. • Pipe stress analysis using CAESER II and other calculation per ASME B31.3 (Wall thickness, Reinforcements), Pipe support selection.

• Calculate and assess equipment nozzles loads per codes (Pumps, Vessels columns, exchangers…)

• Preparation of Piping design basis, Feasibility study & FEED report, FEED verification report, Construction scope of work.

• Preparation of Material Requisitions, Technical bid Evaluation/Tabulation, MTO review (Valves and fittings). Vendor document review including piping equipment’s and rotating equipment’s

• Good knowledge in design reviews of Piping drawings / documents / calculations submitted by Vendors / contractors and exposure to PDS, SP3D, SPR

• Prepare line designation table (LDT) with engineering data input like NDE, pressure test to the relevant design code and project specifications;

• P&IDs reviews from piping perspective

Professional Experience

I. SNC Lavalin Calgary Feb 2019 to present

Piping Engineering Specialist (Kearl Project expansion-SADG) 2

• Design and specification of piping systems including valves, fittings, according to applicable industry codes and standard.

• Check and review Piping and instrument diagrams from piping perspective (piping specification and breaks, isolation valves, piping class assignment.

• Line list preparation and ensure all the inputs are correct and reflect the issued P&IDs.

• Providing required input to project procurement plan/register and managing the completion of procurement packages (Manual valve and other fitting MR’s) and including vendor documentation review and assigning inspection levels.

• Develop piping material line classes according project specification/requirements and industry standard.

• Wall thickness calculations including hot tap calculations (Internal and external pressure)

• Static stress analysis of piping systems for refineries, including detailed specification of pipe support elements (guides, spring hangers, and expansion joints) II. Hatch Ltd. Jul 2018 to Feb 2019

IV. Fluor Canada Ltd. Nov 2011 to July 2016.

Senior design engineering specialist. My role was piping engineering including planning the work, interface with project management and clients. I successfully contributed with my involvement in FEEDs

(Hydrotreater, Hydrocracker, vacuum unit and petrochemical) as well as in detail design engineering projects to deliver the key engineering documents to Fluor main clients.

• Develop piping classes for all process and utility systems including critical services and prepare detailed piping specifications to fulfil the project needs.

• P&IDs Review & mechanisation, produce LDTs with all mechanical inputs; change notices...etc.;

• Provide inputs to design team, maintain piping material catalogues, review and approve requests for new components, isometrics and special drawings;

• Create piping SP items list and data sheets including manual valves; 3

• Involved in material purchasing process by generating material requisitions, defining all relevant documentation and inspection requirements, review offers from suppliers and complete technical bid evaluations of all piping components as well as vendor’s documents review;

• Make a technical assessments and recommendation for project and cost saving initiatives;

• Assist other engineers to complete tasks in order to meet the level of expected quality within the schedule.

Key projects I was involved in are as follow:

Sturgeon Refinery Project FEED Phase (North West Redwater): $8.5-billion project which will convert 79,000 barrels of diluted bitumen per day into ultra-low-sulphur diesel and other products including diluent and low- sulphur vacuum oil

Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) Project FEED Phase (Williams): The plant has a capacity of 525 KTA (Kilo Tons Per Annum) of polymer grade propylene production and will use low-cost, locally sourced propane as its feedstock

Water Technology Development Centre- Detail design Eng. Lump sum project (Suncor): The facility tests produced water (PW) separation, treatment and recycling technologies test skids. WTDC will be attached to Suncor Energy’s Firebag facility which uses in situ technology called steam assisted gravity drainage.

Irving Tier three Project (Plant Extension): Update Irving narrative specifications as well as piping line classes, including wall thickness calculation, to meet the most up to date codes and standards. V. AMEC Calgary Canada. Jun 2011 to Nov 2011: KEARL project. Piping specialist.

• Perform pipe stress analysis per ASME B31.3for process piping using CAESER II software and select support accordingly

• Follow up with the whole process of valve purchasing from preparation of requisition (RFQs), Technical bids evaluation to PO placement. Assist Project in scheduling with regard of materials delivery as well as site engineering support.

VI. CH2M Hill (UAE) Dec. 2009 to May 2011 PMC (ADCO, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company). Senior Piping/mechanical engineer. Responsible for the execution of the engineering design associated with the project scope per schedule and within budget, project requirements and specifications (Shell DEPs). Produce technical package to be included in tender package;

• Perform TBEs of EPIC and provide necessary input in selecting the FEED Contractors including providing any discipline clarifications to the bids,

• Review of the engineering execution strategy and evaluate bidder capabilities and qualification to provide the required technical services

• Provide technical input during FEED, detailed engineering, materials purchasing, fabrication, testing, installation, and monitor the implementation of QA/QC processes, to achieve deliverables and facilities that meet project requirements;

• Review and approve drawings, Plot plan, lay out, specifications. Endorse technical deviations to guidelines, codes and standards.

• Review stress analysis input, report and validate pipe support location;

• 3D Model review and provide recommendation on constructability, maintenance and operation;

• Oversee and approve contractors pipeline and flowlines design such as routing selection alignment sheet, crossing calculation, hydrostatic test program 4

• Provide construction supports for ongoing projects and assist contractors in technical queries; VII. Fluor Mideast limited – Abu Dhabi-UAE: Oct 2007 to Dec 2009. Piping design engineer: Responsible to plan work for 146 tie-ins at Ruwais plant study, prepare man/hour estimation (FEED). Lead piping team to carry out a site survey to study different pipe route options and review them jointly with client (GASCO), validate by checking the stress and confirm the pipe supports location and types. Update the model, Tie in list and LDT accordingly.

• QATAR GAS BIRTH 6 project (detail design), I calculate and assess pump nozzle loads to API 610 and manufacturer allowable loads/ piping stress analysis using AUTOPIPE software. Review of vendor document such as equipment GAs, procedures and reports. Participate in 3D model review and improve the design based on the client operation recommendation as well as other discipline inputs.

• HABSHAN 5 (Proposal): Sulphur Unit recovery and its associated tail gas units, assigned to prepare an estimate for a proposal by producing RFQs for piping components, GRE/GRP material, TBE’s to get pricing. Assist designers in SP3D troubleshooting to get a material download as the model goes on. Report on work progress.

VIII. B&RC (KBR-SONATRACH Algeria) Apr 2004 to Sep 2007: Piping engineer: Assigned as a piping lead to assess, estimate design and implement various piping modification (FCP) during plant shutdown in full awareness of BP-STATOIL standards.

• I successfully executed jointly with the team under my supervision the piping and mechanical scope as per schedule which includes design supervision site surveys;

• Design and install new piping wellhead facilities to increase production, updating drawings of the existing facility and perform stress analysis using CAESER II;

• Pipeline/flowline design engineer. Pipeline routing selection including zone classification per code and std, crossing design and calculation, alignment sheet, material procurement and hydrostatic test plan preparation

• Piping material purchasing and work execution within the given deadline for plant modifications (In Salah gas compression station plant). Coordination with other disciplines, vendors and clients. IX. KANAGHAZ (Algerian National Construction Company) Oct 2000 to Apr 2004: Piping field engineer: My role consists in field engineering work in Oil Treatment project and revamp

(South of Algeria BRN). Participate in AGIP-SONATRACH group HSE policy implementation

• Oversee the whole fabrication process from preparation of spool drawings, material quantities to pressure test including quality documentation record (NDE, PQR, WPS…)and minor track NCRs.

• Inspect the installation of pipes to ensure the work is in full compliance with the project's design;

• Review drawings, address design and constructability issues and resolve them on time (site queries);

• Report on work progress, highlight concerns and provide input to work planning team;

• Issue material requisitions to procurement and review of vendor drawings;

• Coordinate with other disciplines as required;

• Prepare hydrostatic test packages for piping systems and oversee performance to meet acceptance criteria.
