Dear to Whom It May Concern,

I was thrilled to see an opportunity to work with the Second Harvest Food Bank as a Community Outreach Specialist. I believe I would be an ideal candidate for this position because I am passionate about ending hunger and malnutrition, experienced in community outreach and event management, and enthusiastic about the work your team has done to make the community I grew up in more equitable. Volunteering at the SHFB, Loaves and Fishes, and Jacob’s Heart in high school stirred my interest in working in a career surrounding food access. Going to college and building community while working for UC San Diego Residential Life, made me passionate about returning back to Watsonville after I graduated to help my community thrive. Working with Fitness4Life as an AmeriCorps member after college, only furthered my motivation to increase education and outreach surrounding food access, especially since I had first-hand experience relying on Cal Fresh. While serving as an AmeriCorps member with Fitness4Life, I was able to distribute food to students and their families and teach students about delicious healthy recipes. When the pandemic hit, I was able to talk to families about where they could get food and apply to Cal Fresh, through helping to develop a COVID-19 related resources website and talking to families in person. I strongly believe that my skills and personality will translate well to the role of Community Outreach Specialist because I enjoy doing outreach for an organization that I believe in and want to see succeed. I hope to apply my experience and perspective to help the Second Harvest Food Bank end hunger and malnutrition in Santa Cruz County.

I would be delighted to further discuss my experience and qualifications for the Community Outreach Specialist role at the Second Harvest Food Bank. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or require any additional information.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely,

Gabriela Davidson
