Operates a variety of radiological equipment such as but not limited to CR, DR, C-arm, Fluoroscopy, portables, MRI scans, CT scans to produce images for diagnostic purposes in various hospitals and clinics. Positioned patient for x-rays using immobilization and protective devices as required. Adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination. Take x-ray images following established radiologic requirements and regulations and management to ensure patient care and safety by applying principles of ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable). Performs diagnostic test such as EKG. Administer enemas, contrast media, draw blood and assist physician with any procedures. Perform urine drug screens for employment, draw blood and centrifuge, collect, label, and process specimens for send-out. Meets radiology operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and patient-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Provides a safe environment by monitoring radioactive exposure of staff and patients; keeping staff and patients safe, controlling radium loading and handling techniques; maintaining radium records. Serves and protects the public community by ensuring adherence to professional standards, branch policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and State of Hawaii, Department of Health standards. Participates in the development of the goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and priorities within the Radiology department.
