It consists of two parts, data gathering and detection on the mainframe and workflow environment in the off host. The mainframe component deals with the data gathering from various feeding system like Authorization, Chargeback, Retrievals, Funding etc and loading of this data into the DB2 database on the mainframe. This process is an overnight batch process, which reads the daily data for different merchants and calculates different data elements that can be used for the rule process. The rule process is a combination of six engines running concurrently and comprises of a driver routine in REXX, which calls the COBOL program to fire the SQL dynamically on the DB2 database. All the merchants breaking the criteria defined in the rule are picked up and their data is transmitted to off host environment in UNIX where it’s loaded into an ORACLE database. Users then login to the online system and do further investigation and take necessary action on the fraudulent merchants.
