EXPERIENCE:
04/2020 - Present ASTAR Inc.
Mineralwells, WV
Safety Inspector on the TransCanada/TC Energy MXP-Mountaineer Xpress Pipeline Project, Spreads 5 & 6, Slip Repairs. I am responsible for overseeing all aspects of safety onsite. I am one of two safety inspectors and one of three safety professionals onsite each day. Henkels & McCoy is the General Contractor, who is performing slip repairs along 52 miles of the MXP Pipeline in Mineralwells, WV. H&M has multiple crews, working on multiple slip repairs, along each spread. I travel to each worksite and observe the employees working habits, to ensure proper safety rules and regulations are adhered to and that the work being done is performed as safely as possible. I also conduct all site safety orientations, driver/UTV training, SSSP training, and any other training or skills verification necessary for any and all contractors involved in the project. The slip repairs consist of multiple sections of hillside where the earth has shifted and left the pipeline exposed or without sufficient coverage. Along many of the slips, winch lines are required to stabilize equipment as it performs earth work. Once the slip section is repaired, irrigation systems are installed, and earth is again covering the pipe, the restoration and environmental controls are put in place. This project has approximately 200 Henkels & McCoy employees onsite each day and about 12 third party inspectors.
03/2014 – 02/2020 Enhanced Field Services Inc.
Lock Haven, PA
As the Corporate EHS Director/Operations Management for Enhanced Field Services Inc. I was responsible for all of the company’s EHS needs and field operations. EFS Inc. specializes in third party inspection services, as well as project management, and roust-about services. I was involved in every aspect of the company’s business other than payroll and invoicing. I and one other operations manager handled all of the day to day business that was conducted on each of our jobsites in PA, WV, OH, & MI, out of the Pennsylvania EFS office. I conducted all new hire orientations, drug screens, and safety training for our employees and most of the sub-contractor companies, as requested. I oversaw up to 70 inspectors, of various types, on multiple locations, and in multiple states. Those inspectors were also required to act as safety professionals on each jobsite per our client’s requests. Those professionals oversaw and lead all activities and inspected each phase of construction, conducted by the assigned contractors on each project, to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, codes, and regulations, as well as the client’s requirements. Our professionals were trained on how to conduct safety audits, how to instill preventative safety measures, how to adhere to our policies/procedures, how to safely conduct all activities at hand, emergency/environmental/spill response procedures, and conducting the reporting process in the event of an accident, injury, property damage, or illness. I provided all of the training for our employees, setup emergency response plans and services at each jobsite, wrote all of the policies/procedures, and maintained all records. I was in charge of setting up and maintaining all ISNetWorld, PowerAdvocate, MEA, PEC/Veriforce, and dozens of other accounts, related to our client’s requirements. EFS Inc. had zero incidents/injuries/illnesses, during the 6 years that I was the EHS Director. I also was part of the operations team in charge of recruiting, hiring/terminating employment, client relations, sales meetings, employee relations, MSA setup, all social media pages, client meetings & sales, and conducted regular site visits. I believe in getting out in the field and seeing your clients and your employees, face to face, boots on the ground, and being involved & informed about every phase of every project. I believe our success in working safely was due to our employees going above and beyond, to provide the safest working environment possible, at every jobsite and being properly trained to handle all aspects of their positions. I taught our employees that safety is not just a word, it is a state of mind, a way of life, and a habit that we all must use every day to accomplish our goals, to continue to grow as a company, and to be able to return home safely to our families. I left EFS because I was temporarily laid off, due to lack of work, but I cannot be off of work for that long, so I am seeking employment elsewhere.
