PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

I had undergone 1month training at INDIAN OIL CORPORATION LIMITED, Guwahati and was able to co-relate various unit operation learnt so far and also visualized the forth coming unit operation from day to day refinery operation. I had good access to overall day to day plant operation including production/management, technical services, quality control, safety systems etc. Areas like general engineering including utility & offsides like water handling, water treatment and utilization, heating systems including boiler like fuel system, flue gas system, steam system (IBR, Low pressure, High pressure) etc. condensate recovery system, etc effluent treatment facility and associated chemical engineering aspects &routine general administration practices.

I had the opportunity to visit VASUNDHARA DAIRY, AMUL dealing with more than 3 lakh litre milk/day, 1lakh litre/day utterly butterly tasty ice cream, 50 thousand lit/day amul masti dahi.

The unit handling 16 MLD water for entire Nagpur city involves preliminary treatment like aeration, clariflocculation, inclined bed laminar clarifier, central defined clarifier, chlorine dosing system & direct driven high capacity process pumps. The hugeness of equipment piping system & infrastructure impressed me a lot.

During Ganesh visarjan, the unit celebration in central India that often generates environmental issues like disposal of idols etc. I had the opportunity to interact with NEERI, NAGPUR Team for about a month in detailing of idol disposal facility at different location in Nagpur city. TITTLE: Treatment of wastewater using Cow dung ash Description: Non-biodegradable contaminants pose a serious health and environmental hazards and removal of these wastes cannot be achieved using secondary methods. Hence, tertiary/advanced wastewater treatment methods such as ion exchange, precipitation, membrane separation, electrolysis and adsorption can be used to remove these recalcitrant wastes. However, most of these methods are costly and require high level of expertise, hence they are not applied by many end-users.

For these reasons, adsorption technology has gained a wider application due to its inherent low cost, simplicity, versatility and robustness.

The success of an adsorption process starts with the choice of an adsorbent. Several adsorbents can be used to treat industrial wastewater. A few of such adsorbent materials are commercial activated carbon, zeolites, silica gel and activated alumina.

Unfortunately, most of these adsorption media are very costly. Thus, the use of low- cost adsorbents derived from agricultural and industrial solid wastes for wastewater treatment has attracted a vast amount of attention in recent years. These waste materials are underutilized and hence they are readily available and can be used for wastewater treatment.
