Loch Duart Ltd May 2019 - June 2020
Salmon Farmer working at Loch Duart feeding, collecting mortalities using haulers and netting, assisting with swim throughs, feeding wrasse, assisting with health checks, tying pipe work, taking phytoplankton and zooplankton samples, checking oxygen, checking visibility, calibrations, general fish farming duties and freshwater treatments, cleaning and checking seal scarers.
Whilst I have undertaken VHF and RYA Powerboat level 2 course.
Hatchery Technician January 2020 - June 2020
Hatchery technician at Loch Duart working as part of a small team.The role involved rearing fish from egg to smolts ready for transfer to sea. The role involved picking dead and pinhead eggs and alevins with deformities such as Siamese. After been transferred to smaller tanks the trays are all scrubbed out and washed. The role also involved netting mortalities on both the large and smaller tanks. Flushing tanks of waste food and faeces, checking oxygen levels and feeding. Other aspects to the role include changing drum filter screens and replacing seals, cleaning screens. DIY type jobs creating covers for the smaller tanks. My final jobs at the hatchery involved setting up tanks ready for the fry to be transferred sealing tank walls, putting new ropes on waste and mortality pipes, disinfecting grading system and replacing clips on pipes for transfer, putting new feed pipes on and cutting old pipework up.

Labouring on building sites such as house renovations and army camp buildings. Tasks involve clearing up, inserting insulation, breaking up concrete, concreting, putting batons on roofing and moving materials.
Land and Water Services 14/4/17 - 18/4/17
Pennywort spraying on the River Colne as a subcontractor for LNS recruitment. The treatment involved using a knapsack sprayer with glyphosphate either from the boat or in channel with it on my back.
Five Rivers Environmental Contracting October 2018 - January 2019
Working as a site technician on river restoration and bank stabilisation projects around the country. The river restoration projects involved hinging and pinning trees.
Inserting brushwood berms and deflectors. The bank stabilisation involved inserting flex mse bags tamping them down and using a whacker plate to flatten them down. Driving wheeled and tracked dumpers and processing wood to go onto a fish pass.
Trafalgar Fisheries March 2018 - October 2018
The role involved been a general fish farmer switching between sites at Bickton and Barford. The role involved hand feeding, grading, netting, deads, cleaning screens,
electric fishing to remove predatory fish. Nightwatch clearing deads and screens, checking and turning oxygen on around the ponds. Draining down ponds, pushing fish up to be pumped into delivery bins and predation control and changing the netting.
Cain Bioengineering June 2017 - March 2018
River Technician working on revetment and restoration projects around the country. General manual work such as using machinery such as excavators and dumpers. The work involved working as part of a team, wiring, installing posts, moving material, breaking up concrete, moving benches, installing woody debris on iconic beats of the River Test at Timsbury and Bossington Estate. Installing pond revetments and rock ramps.
Springs Aquatics March 2017 - June 2017
Working in pond and aquarium maintenance. Maintaining pumps, filters and aquarium systems as well as cleaning and restoring ponds. Monitoring water quality using scientific equipment such as titrations and fish keeping in store.

General fish farming on a carp farm in Devon. Grading of fish. Netting of fish to be put into the fish house. Going out on deliveries.

Working with staff n Wallingford and Romsey. Attending the NFPD workshop, data analysis, fish surveys on the River Kennet and Topmouth Gudgeon Removal (Pseudobora parva).
Student Dissertation Collection Great Stour Kent October 2015 - May 2016
Results collection for the dissertation on the impacts of inserting large woody debris on fish populations in the Great Stour in Kent. This involved collecting results from three control and three impact sites.
The three run depletion was carried out with volunteers from other universities. The fish where ID'd counted, measured and weighed. Diatom, chlorophyll and invertebrate samples where also taken from the sites.
The work was carried out in collaboration with Joseph Huddart Phd student at Imperial College London.

Working on a project on the River Dever with Mike Blackmore inserting brushwood berms and deflectors to alter the course of the channel.
Student West Cumbria Rivers Trust Summer 2015/2016
Undertaking two summers of the electric fishing fry survey to count the abundance of Salmon and Brown Trout fry. Freshwater Pearl Mussel Surveying, Dissolved oxygen monitoring, river walkover with Mike Farrell from the Environment Agency.
Working on events such as Cockermouth Show with events for kids. Producing crib sheets and documents for the electric fishing survey. Invasive species control of japanese knotweed and himalayan balsam.

Working with Jake Dew to insert woody debris features in the Avon Catchment aswell as carrying out gravel cleaning.
Student TVT Greatbridge Road January 2015
Working for a month on the 2nd biggest table trout farm in the country with 2 to 3 tonne of fish going to processing in Scotland every week. The role involved grading fish, feeding fish, cleaning grates, red mark syndrome, enteric redmouth and furunculosis ID.
Using electronic counters and mechanical fish pumps. Getting the higher quality fish out for marketing.
