Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race (GNCTR) - Team Fundraiser
Sept 2017 – May 2018
Assisted an engineering team to fundraise a total of $45,000.00 to compete against the top 21+ universities of Canada and the US.
Assisted the engineering team in designing a concrete toboggan that would house 5 people and safely reach speeds up to 45 km/h.
Helped the team placed 1st overall and win 5 awards, GNCTR Excellence in Safety Award, Best Superstructure Design, Best Braking Performance, and Best Team Costumes.
Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race (GNCTR) – Team Lead/President
May 2018 – April 2019
Coordinated and maintained the project’s budget.
Responsible for creating estimates (materials, labour, manufacturing expenses, etc.)
Improved communications with SAIT and SAITSA professionals, along with the GNCTR Organizing Committee to successfully bring the team to the competition.
Supervised and worked along with three different major groups within the club, mechanical, civil and business groups to manufacture a safe toboggan.
Orchestrated events on campus to motivate new members to further expand the team’s strength, legacy and SAIT presence at the National Engineering competition.
Led the team win the 13th place overall and win 3 awards, Excellence in Safety, Fastest Toboggan and 3rd place in Best Spirit.
Capstone Project – Southern Alberta Institute of Technology – Team lead
Formulated a variety of concepts for an experimental set up (trainer), for the optimization of well-drill bits and similar downhole tools for the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at SAIT. This project included:
oEstimating materials, labour, and parts
oExtensive research of sheet metal parts and costumed manufactured parts
oStepping out of the box for ideas and concepts for design and manufacturability
oCommunication with suppliers for allocation, lead time and shipping of materials and parts.
oWorking with machinist, professional engineers, and instructors to design a safe and functional trainer
oConstructed engineering blueprint/drawing packages for the manufacturing and assembly process of the final design
