Working as part of a multi-disciplinary imaging team, the Senior Radiologic technologist – MRI/ Unit in charge, under the direction of the Head of Radiology. Is the professional lead in their area of responsibility ad responsible for the supervision of the junior technologists and staffs within the service to ensure the continuity of service delivery. Through the production of high quality images, to ensure a high standard of service is continually provided to all patients, parents and other hospital staff as prescribed in the patient care and facility standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Managerial/Supervisory

• Responsible for direct management of a designated section/program of the MRI service. Ensures areas/programs under direct management are safely delivered with optimal utilization of equipment and personnel

• Assesses processes within the designated section and makes recommendations to the Manager - Clinical Radiology for possible improvements and amendments.

• Supervises all MRI Technologists and staffs within the designated MRI section for the duration of the shift

• Identifies resources requirements and informs Manager

Clinical

• Plans, prioritizes and organizes a range of highly complex activities and projects for a designated section or program of the MRI service

• Interprets highly complex clinical information and acts independently in the assessment of referrals for MRI examinations to ensure appropriate studies are performed.

• Works independently, performs all routine and specialized MRI procedures, and associated responsibilities, as dictated by the workload in the roistered area

Quality

• Ensures that systems and standards that promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care for the modality are adhered to as directed.

• Provides modality expertise in reference to the MRI service, assists in the maintenance and development of the MRI service

• Develops, contributes, participates and complies with quality improvement programs and competency assessment initiatives for the Diagnostic imaging services.

• Provides appraisals of staff as directed. Participates in mandatory training and actively practices continual professional development in alignment with professional development programs to ensure maintenance of professional licensure/accreditation.

• Adheres to and promotes compliance with the hospital s radiation safety and protection policies and associated codes of practice and takes appropriate action where non-compliance is evident

• Participates and contributes to the budgetary process as directed

Training and Development

• Develops, contributes, implements and delivers training and development programs on equipment and procedures in the area of operations, in alignment with the facilities training objectives and plans

To lead a team of basic Radiologic Technologist in performing all kinds of routine and special procedures using Digital Radiography,Computed Radiography,Mobile Radiography X-ray meachines . Routine and Special procedures regularly done in our department are Chest, Skull, Spine, Abdomen &Pelvis,Extremities like Shoulder, Elbow,Wrist, Hand, Forearm,Arm, Hip,SI joints,Knee, Ankle & Foot, Thighs,Legs..Mobile radiographs like chest abdomen and OPG Specially Radiographs like all Barium Swallow,Barium meal .Barium meal follow through, Barium enema, Fistulographs . IVP, MCU,HSG ERCP etc ..

To lead and monitor group of Basic Radiographer and student Radiographer in performing all kinds of routine and special procedures using Multi detector 16 Slice Siemens CT Scanner .commonly area of scan are Brain,Spines,Neck,Chest Abdomen and pelvis .Extremities like Shoulder, Elbow,Wrist, Hips, SI Joints,Knees,Foot and Ankle . Also to guide Radiologist in FNAC and Biopsies.CT Angiograms Brain, Carotids, Pulmonary,Thoracic, Abdomen, Renal,Upper limb & Lower limb Angios., CT Urograms .To post process the Images and reconstruct the datas.

To lead and monitor group of basic radiographer and student radiographer to performing all kinds of routine and special procedures using.3Tphilips /1.5T Siemens MRI scanner done in out department are Brain, Facial nerves, Optic nerves, Neck, Spine,Chest, Abdomen, and pelvis and all musculoskeletal like Shoulder, Elbow,Wrist,Hip,Knee Ankle and Foot,Thighs,

Lower Leg,Arm,Forearm .All kinds of Contrast Enhanced Angiogram, like Brain,Carotids, Pulmonary,Chest,Abdominal Angiogram etc, MRCP, MR Mammogram, MR Urogram etc

Assessing patients and their clinical requirements to determine appropriate Radiological techniques to produce high quality images.

Observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting, and post examination stay in the department.

Assisting in more complex MRI / CT & Conventional Radiographic Examination under the supervision of the Radiologist & Senior Staff
