EXPERIENCE

Product Engineer – Chassis Systems (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles - Contract: KCM Technical) Nov ’18 - May ‘20

Responsible for Design and release duties for EHPS (Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) System components: Steering Linkages, Steering Gear, Steering Pump and Hose Assemblies for Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator.

Performed Component and Vehicle level DAC at Proving Grounds, subjective testing of vehicles, assisted changes in DFMEA, DVP&R, PF Specifications to implement the findings into running changes.

Created and validated procedure to prime the steering damper in field and improve performance, evaluated vehicles at FCA and dealer locations against warranty claims, summarized in a live PDCA document.

Proposed and presented Error-proofing/Cost Reduction for directional assembly of steering damper.

Resolved steering linkage interference issue correlating move macros and Steering Sim testing data.

Worked with the corrosion team and supplier to improve corrosion resistance of steering linkages.

With the designers, re-packaged steering pump and hoses to meet VI requirements for a new trim.

Kept track of component level testing, creating and maintaining the change documentation through FCA Process Tools/Methodology such as Change Notice (CN), Common Change Document (CCD).

Supported purchasing and sourcing activities for various testing and build requirements.

Supported vehicle assembly plants for Pre and Post-production/running change implementation. Graduate Research Assistant (University of Michigan-Dearborn) May ’18 – Nov ‘18 Automotive Side Impact and Lightweight Door Design. (FMVSS 214)

Modeled CAD for door assembly in SolidWorks, meshed in HyperMesh, modeled pole-side impact load cases in LS-PrePost for a Steel door at 90 impact, solved in LS-DYNA to study deceleration and force plots.

Compared results for Steel and Aluminum reinforcement plates with 10% plastic failure strain criteria.

Created Energy Vs Time, Resultant Force Vs Displacement plots, recorded the peak values for future studies. Formula SAE Electric (University of Michigan - Dearborn) Aug ’17 - Mar ‘18

Member of Frame team, helped in design and packaging of instrument cluster, created CAD in SolidWorks.

Rectified distorted mesh of frame components in HyperMesh, performed bending and torsional analysis. NEERAJ TAKALE Page 2

Tutor/Mentor (University of Michigan-Dearborn). Oct ‘17 - Apr ‘18

Worked for ME Dept. to guide students for FEA, Materials, Calculus, Statics and Dynamics. Automotive Industry Simulation Internship (Bengaluru, India). Jul ‘15 - Jul ‘15

Designed Hybrid sedan for Indian market, worked on benchmarking, body, chassis, and brakes selection.

Performed NVH testing on TATA NANO, hands-on experience with chassis and IC engines.

Studied process control and PLM tools such DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Graduate Researcher (University of Michigan-Dearborn). Sep ‘17 – Apr ‘18 Capstone Project: Automotive Rollover Crash and Roof Crush Analysis (FMVSS 216).

Summarized standard rollover procedures for full vehicle, component level and CAE testing methodologies.

Studied NHTSA’s Honda Accord Roof Crush configuration, researched the behavior and contribution of structural members in absorbing the impact energy during dynamic roof crush using LS-PrePost, LS-DYNA.

Accounted for 77.78% of the time-average impact energy, discussed unaccounted energy distribution.
