Payroll / Human Resources Manager

Ensures accurate and timely payroll processing for 7,000 employees. Responsible for overseeing and processing payroll for multi-company, multi-state, and international payrolls for exempt and non-exempt employees ensuring local, state, and federal payroll requirements are met. Managing four direct report payroll/ human resources administration employees. Using ADP Workforce Now payroll, human resources, and Total Pay program.

Reviews, enters, and ensures accuracy of timekeeping imports for three separate timekeeping systems into ADP. Enters and reviews garnishments, support orders, special payroll deductions, commissions, bonuses, insurance deductions, mileage, business expenses, and tracks vacation and sick accruals.

Responsible for the coordination between payroll and human resources with other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data. Prepares and distributes detailed reports for management for hours, salary, vacation/sick, 401K, Investments Plans, Insurance deductions, Workers Compensation Audits, Census, and Multiple Worksite Reporting, and ACA tracking and reporting.

Answers questions and inquiries from payroll staff, accounting staff, and Executive Administration, District Managers, and Department managers. Heads record compilation for various audits.

Substantial experience in implementation of new payroll company codes with company acquisitions. Complete payroll / human resources implementation experience including grandfathering accruals, benefit offering, applying for FEIN numbers, state numbers, and all payroll data imported. At current employer, implemented 8 new companies and handled various group store acquisitions into current brands with fast food quick service and retail establishments. Payroll tax reporting – Quarterly and Annual statement of deposits and filings, 1095-C, California Wage, Wage & Tax Register and Cafeteria 125 Plan Benefits, Quarterly earnings records, federal unemployment tax return 940, employer’s quarterly payroll tax return 941, annual return of withheld federal income tax 945, and wage and tax registers, and W-2, and W-2C disbursement.

Accomplished at administration of all health benefits including medical, dental, vision, long term disability, voluntary life, accident, critical illness, flexible spending accounts, 401(k), and investment plans. Overseeing benefit plan renewals and conducting/organizing open enrollment meetings with employees. Experience in quick implementation and benefit offering due to company acquisitions. Responsible for Workers’ Compensation insurance, claims, authorizes appropriate treatment to assure treatment is prompt, adequate, and cost effective. Works with insurance carriers to provide employee and injury information. Works with attorneys, physicians, and other persons involved in Workers’ Compensation. Attends insurance claims meetings and obtains quotes for new insurance coverage.

Enters/imports payroll journal entries for all companies. Researches and resolves accounting issues for financials and bank reconciliation. MAS90 and MAS200 accounting programs.

Approves all payroll positive pay and ACH funding transactions with two separate banks to ensure timely/secure payroll. Also, tracks reporting and banking with Total Pay.

Effectively communicates all unemployment inquiries, enters and responds to all garnishments/support orders inquiries, and employment verifications.

Responsible for the administration of the company’s 401(k) plan which encompasses processing enrollments, loans, rollovers, terminations, and distributions.

Enlists employees in COBRA and help them to resolve related issues and answers inquiries.

Continuously review, modify, and adjust processes to ensure the company operates in compliance with policies and procedures.

Conducting new hire pre-screening processes, interviews, and orientation.
