Dear Amran,

Covid-19 Government Job Protection Scheme

Unfortunately, as you know Soccer City has had to close due to the Coronavirus. As you are designated as a casual ‘as and when’ worker with no fixed or formal contracted hours we do not have clarity yet as to how we are able to support you. However, we are looking to do whatever we can and it may be possible that you could be designated as a furloughed employee under the Government’s Job Protection Scheme. In this instance under the scheme HMRC will reimburse Soccer City 80% of furloughed workers' wage costs up to

£2,500 per month for the next 3 months with such amounts being paid through the current monthly payroll process. This would be based on your average working hours. If it is possible for us to treat your employment in this way and we are able to claim your wage costs from the government and pay them to you, then we will certainly endeavour to do so. However, to enable us to designate you as a furloughed employee we do need your agreement, and so please can you sign and scan a copy of this letter and email it back to me or post it to the Soccer City address (Soccer City, Tandem Industrial Estate, Wakefield Rd, Tandem, Huddersfield HD5 0AL). At the time of writing the length of the furlough period is unknown, but Soccer City will continue to communicate with you during this period.
