Senior Management Consultant – Electrolab 2000 - Present

Global Training Edge Inc. in partnership with Electrolab provides Behavior Based Safety (BBS) implementation services globally. My responsibilities included: provide sales support, client contact, consulting and implementation services. We also provide training and consulting including: Safestart, Leadership – Leading Safety 24/7, Steering Committee, Rate Your State, Extended Application Units (EAU) Implementation and Safetrack.

Accomplishments: Implemented BBS system with organizations on a global scale: ABB, Honda, GM, York Region, GTAA, Suncor, Husky. Shell, Westlake, P&G, Gillette, DuPont, and Universal Studios.

Director Safety Services – Safety Services Nova Scotia 2002 - 2005

Responsibilities included: Managing a team of consultants. During this time, our team increased consulting revenue, through program development and partnerships. Our approach was to maintain a safe, healthy work environment through the planning and implementation of safety policies, procedures and practices, safety management systems (SMS), based on our client’s needs.

Achievements: We reduced incidents and improved the safety culture in many organizations through Nova Scotia. Assisted in the development of the Forest Safety Society of Nova Scotia (FSSNS) and the Canadian Association of Safety Councils.

Regional Manager - Liberty Risk Services (Liberty Mutual) 1999 - 2001

Established and grew the Liberty Consulting and Training business in Atlantic Canada. Hired and trained staff, including consultants and trainers. Responsible for monitoring consulting projects in cooperation with the senior management team, conducted site assessments (audit and hazard assessment) to determine organizational needs. Services included: safety system implementation, medical assistance, hiring and placement, WCB assistance, etc.

Achievements: Introduced the Liberty brand of services to organizations across Canada at the corporate level. Conducted a Global System Assessment for IBM during the Y2k problem (Doomsday 2000).

Safety Manager – Nova Scotia Safety Council 1994 - 1998

Responsibilities include: Responding to requests, developing contracts, implementing training programs, consulting with business and governments and providing training and program development services. Additionally, the team developed new safety management tools and programs to assist clients. New programs developed include: Management Safety Certificate, Committee Safety Certificate, Advanced Incident Investigation and Certificate of Recognition (COR) Core Audit (in Liaison with the Department of Labor). We produced COR services throughout NS.

Achievement: We established the Nova Scotia Safety Council as a safety consultancy in NS, still having a positive impact on the people of Nova Scotia to this day. We developed safety certificate program using the IAPA model. Designed a COR audit protocol and managed the Certificate of Recognition process for industry in Nova Scotia.
