RESUME UPDATE: April 2020

I am an experienced one-on-one social worker with 19 years of experience as a case manager/counselor, including 6 years with Developmentally Disabled clients. I have Highly developed organizational skills in documentation and managing caseloads of 35-40 clients. I have worked with persons of all ages with mental health (depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, substance abuse, hx suicide attempts), developmental disability, behavioral issues, and employment issues. If certification is required, I took and passed the Case Manager II course and test 3 years ago, but misinformation prevented registering the score. I will be Very Pleased to re-take the CM II course and test within 1-4 weeks of being hired. During my work at the Crisis Recovery Unit I taught/counseled residents regarding mental illness symptoms and treatment, improving their lives, employment searching, preparation for interviews, and composing resumes.

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Education with major in reading instruction (I once taught a 12-year-old Hispanic boy how to read using my own method) – Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX, 1980-1982.

Bachelor’s Degree in Science with major in journalism and minor in English ( I have worked as professional proofreader in 3 jobs including for State of Oklahoma) -- Sam Houston University, Huntsville, TX, graduated August 1968.

EXPERIENCE: U.S. Job Corps campus in Guthrie, OK, December 23 2019 to March 10, 2020 -- Residential Advisor to approximately 80+ residents ages 16-24 on second floor of one of four 2-story dormitories. I monitored residents 11:30pm to 8:30am 5 nights/week. I pro-vided counseling, Listening, advice to help residents resolve daily personal issues; dispensed prescribed medications as needed; awakened residents at 6:00am for daily tech&academic classes; and accomplished documentation for daily routine, and incident, activities. Awaiting promotion to one of 3 types of counseling positions became open-ended awaiting staff opening. I have 19 years of case management/counseling experience. Working overnight became unsafe trying to stay awake driving home.

EXPERIENCE: OK Dept. Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services, OK Crisis Recovery Center, OK City, from April 2017 to June 2018. Served as Triage Specialist counseling/educating residents with mental health issues needing beginning/resumption of medication [depression, bipolar, panic, schizophrenia, suicide attempts] regarding treatment needs, personal issues, and setting life-skill goals that included acquiring employment..

Brookdale Senior Living Centers, begun August 2016 -- Served as front desk receptionist, and dining room host and server. On most days 3-4 days/week worked 4-6:30pm in dining room refilling water and ice tea caraffes, keeping coffee pots full, cleaning surfaces, bussing tables. I worked the front information desk days as needed, more frequently third shift 11pm - 7am.

Bronco Academy Daycenter in Mustang, managed by OK Family Counseling Services, for children ages 6-14 with behavioral problems; served as case manager in training providing social rehab class teaching, and monitoring free-time activities – January 12 to February 2, 2016; left due to issues with physically restraining children.

Mustang Treatment Center for teenage girls with legal and behavioral issues, also managed by Oklahoma Family Counseling Services; served as Residential Counselor monitoring 2nd shift activities (3-11pm) -- December 7, 2015, to January 11, 2016; left to become case manager at Bronco Academy.

Rose Rock Academy for Autistic Children ages 6-18, 3301 N ML King, Oklahoma City; served as Residential Counselor on 2nd (3-11pm) then 3rd shift (11pm to 7am) monitoring boarding school daily activities then nightly dealing with frequent awakenings for elimination accidents and disruptive behaviors and completing laundry duties -- May 26 to November 30, 2015.

Mustang Treatment Center for teenage girls; served as Residential Counselor on 3rd shift (11pm to 7am) monitoring sleeping girls -- February 2 to mid-May 2015.

Girling Health Care, NW Expressway in Oklahoma City -- 11 years as Case Manager, mid-May 2004 to January 31, 2015. Set up and monitored in-home services of case load of 35-40 clients ages 20s to 90s: set up personal care, housekeeping, meals delivery, incontinence supplies, and bath and other safety equipment.

OK Department of Health Eldercare Program in Sallisaw, OK, served as Case Manager for caseload of 20+ clients setting up and monitoring in-home services – July 1, 2002, to end of April 2003 when statewide Eldercare Program terminated by state.

OK Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Mental Health Clinic in Guymon, OK, June 1, 1996, to June 30, 2002: served as Case Manager for clients with mental illness, and/or Developmental Disability, including depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, substance abuse, and history of suicide attempts. I responded to crises calls from local hospital emergency room at all hours regarding mental health issues and evaluated persons for treatment and possible transportation by law enforcement personnel to Fort Supply Mental Health Hospital for treatment and stabilization before returning to Guymon for outpatient services. I advised individual clients and families regarding daily developments and problems related to their mental health issues and treatment.

Lockheed Defense Manufacturing Plan in Abilene, TX, 10 years: October 1984 to July 1994 – served as Lead Material Handler over 3 other material handlers. We picked up machined parts from one machine, marked to be moved, and delivered them to next operation either by ‘golf-cart’ with pickup-truck bed, or forklift, 7am to 3pm. Worked for awhile in parts cage, during temporary light duty, locating nuts-bolts-screws for machinists.

Taught all-grades high school journalism and photography and sponsored newspaper and yearbook for 1 year.

Taught 6th Grade Special Education English, reading, and math and taught 6th grade boy how to read from scratch using my own devised method.

MILITARY: US Air Force July 1969 to July 1973, Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, TX: 2 years in personnel, then 2 years on base newspaper as assistant editor and then editor.
