Organizing, training, verifying, validating, standardizing, policy writing and Pathology review and approval for all 7 hospitals for Central NJ.
Working as a generalist on evening shift for the first 15 years of the job experience, gave me a unique opportunity to become an Assistant Supervisor/ Lead technologist helping with different aspects of the job (training new students and technologists, ordering, policy making, performance evaluations, scheduling, budgeting, cap surveys and calibrations).
After transferring to Blood Bank as a lead technologist on day shift, I continued working on the bench and helping the supervisor with managerial duties (training, scheduling, inventory, maintenance, policy changing, research, cap surveys and budgeting).
I transferred to the Hematology/Flow Cytometry department continuing the same pattern. I became a lead technologist in Heme Lab and Flow Cytometry Lab/ Assistant Supervisor with managerial duties. After I finished my Lean Six Sigma Trainings, I was responsible for many projects around the lab and around the hospital. I earned my Master in Public Administration to be able to be more involved in managerial duties that I was already trained to do.
Beyond being a technologist on the bench for past 28 years, working as a manager, supervisor and a project manager gave me lots of opportunities to learn and expand my knowledge of how to adopt, learn, teach and supervise a team toward excellence.
