I am excited to have discovered this opportunity with the Mental Health Commission of Canada and believe that my previous work experience and educational background make me an ideal candidate.
In my previous role as an Administrative Assistant with the York Region District School Board, I assisted in planning and coordinating the Summer Institute day camp program by creating program schedules, as well as individual students’ schedules. Some of my responsibilities included providing communications updates, preparing and sending documents, and providing exceptional customer support. This experience allowed me to leverage my professional communication skills, as well as my ability to provide customer service and communicate with tact and diplomacy. Fundamental to this role was a strong proficiency in the use of various databases, technologies, and Microsoft programs. As such, I acquired strong technical skills while managing various administrative projects in this role. The strong communication and technical skills I acquired in this role are transferable to this position and would make me a valuable addition the team.
I recently completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and English Literature at Western University. Throughout the course of my undergraduate studies, I have developed excellent communication skills by completing a variety of presentations and written assignments. Additionally, I possess strong research skills, and am able to competently synthesize information and analyze data. In particular, my studies in Political Science have made me well-versed in analyzing policies and formulating clear and concise briefs. In September, I will continue my education at the University of Ottawa and begin my Master of Arts in Political Science degree. Accordingly, my educational background has facilitated the development of my superior research and communication skills, which will allow me to perform well in this role.
I am a hardworking, organized, and motivated individual who works well with others, as well as independently. I have strong interpersonal skills and am fluent in English and French. I hope to further my career by gaining new experience and would be grateful to be considered for this position, as I believe I am the ideal candidate.
Respectfully yours,
Alexandra Ledbury
