EXPERIENCE AS A SAFETY OFFICER/ADVISER
In September 2016 till 2017 I participated on the construction of ADIB Headquarters for the period of six months here in abudhabi as an assistant health and safety officer/ adviser. My company USG had a sub contract with tansguard which was the sole owner of the contract.
In August 2018 till January 2019 I was deployed at Grand Millennium (a 5* Hotel) as an assistant loss prevention officer under safety and security department head by then Mr. Saad.
From 09th January 2019 till now am employed at southern sun hotel Abu Dhabi under safety and security department as a sub safety officer, still under my company USG.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a health and safety officer or adviser am supposed to use my knowledge and skills to reduce injuries, accidents and health problems in the workplace. In this case it means that it’s my role to have an eye for detail and love problem solving, this is the idea that I take in my career.
My role is heavily focused on prevention; ensuring that all health and safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated to the company internally and externally.
Additional general roles and responsibilities;-
Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health
Carry out risk assessments, considering how risks could be reduced
Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards
Review sub-contractors for compliance to company requirements
Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented, including fire drills.
Make changes to working practices that are safe and comply with regulations.
Assist in preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy.
Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
Keep records of inspection findings and producing reports that suggest improvements.
Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all health and safety executive HSE legislation and any developments that affect the company.
Assist in managing and organizing the safe disposal of hazardous substances
Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, scaffolding, working on height and occupational diseases etc.
Liaise with suppliers-insurers, solicitors etc.
As it’s my role to prevent accidents, injuries and health problems in the workplace, I take full responsibility to create health and safety policies, and make sure that employer and workers put them into practice and follow safety laws.
