Resume:

I have chosen to apply for this role as I would love the opportunity to teach in another country, immerse myself in a different culture and experience a new teaching environment. I have spent the previous three years working as a PE specialist teacher in two primary schools. My role has included delivering high quality PE lessons, overseeing an extra-curricular sports programme, organising and co-ordinating intra-school and external competitions and providing staff CPD in PE. During my career in teaching I have enjoyed working with young children and I find it extremely rewarding overseeing their progress not only as students but also as young individuals.

Leading teaching and learning

I feel it is important for children to develop independent learning skills and take an active role, encouraging them to reflect on what they have learned. In order to do this, I aim to provide a stimulating learning environment, which includes interactive displays, provide clear learning objectives and use interesting and involving plenary sessions. I regularly monitor the quality of my teaching and learning and make effective use of feedback from staff and training to make improvements where appropriate. I have singlehandedly designed at implemented the PE curriculum at Winston Way Primary School and oversaw the transition from one PE curriculum to the next at Lyon Park Primary School.

Develop self and others

I have excellent time management skills and organise my priorities on a daily basis.

I have excellent ICT skills and regularly incorporate this into the learning experiences that I provide. I manage support staff effectively and liaise regularly with outside agencies. I regularly attend external CPD connect with but not limited to my subject area which allows me to keep up with current developments and best practise that I can promote across my school. I have mentored and coached young coaches during my time at Winston Way Primary School which led to one of the students I mentored becoming a coach under my tutelage.

Strengthening the community

I strongly believe in an inclusive education and believe that every child has the right to the best teaching and learning experiences possible. I have contributed to curriculum meetings, sharing information with parents and dealing with their queries. I have organised and lead events including sports day, intra-school competitions, external competitions and working with pupils, colleagues, parents and other stakeholders in the community. Although I am not allocated a class, I take the opportunity to speak with parents about their children’s progress in PE and sporting opportunities within the local area.

Suitability for working with children

I maintain positive relationships with the children in my care, making the use of the school’s behavioural policy to establish a positive, respectful atmosphere that has an impact on pupil’s attitudes to learning and each other. I make use of appropriate sanctions when dealing with challenging behaviour that has a regard for the safeguarding of all children.
