Directly supervise 10 - 13 cafeteria supervisors and indirectly supervise 120 - 150 cafeteria lead persons, food service technicians and food service assistants
Recommend and adjust staffing to manage school cafeteria kitchen production and service
Assure HACCP food safety practices are implemented
Provide leadership to assure consistency and compliance with all policies and procedures
Review Profit and Loss Statement for area to achieve department goals
Review financial and staffing performance of schools in assigned area
Monitor food cost and work with cafeteria supervisors to contain food cost to district goal
Use professional judgment in handling emergency situations in cafeterias
Participate in department training program presentations
Assess school based departmental needs and make recommendations to department administration to assure quality service to students and staff
Mentor assigned schools in areas of personnel, operations, facilities, etc
Provide training and monitor assigned schools. Also assure compliance in local, state and federal guidelines
Promote professional development at school staff level
Serve as liaison between F & CNS Dept. and campus administration
Attend workshops and seminars as assigned to maintain current knowledge of the food service industry
Generate disciplinary documentation for employees under her/his direct and indirect supervision
Recommend termination, demotion, promotion or transfer of employees
Must routinely lift and/or move up to 25 lbs
Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate
Quality Assurance Specialist I:
Conduct site visits to schools to evaluate program compliance with state and federal guidelines, and
maintain appropriate files.
Review for quality, appearance, policies and make sure all procedures are followed in the cafeteria.
Review meal program accountability for compliance of National School Lunch Program, and the National School Breakfast Program.
Review and audit the After School Care Program and the Summer Food Service Program.
Develop and conduct professional training programs, designed to improve job-related skills and enhance professional growth.
Provide technical assistance for professional staff, as well as support and school cafeteria staff.
Work with other and administrative staff to coordinate, and assist in presenting training and development programs related to the Career Management System.
Develop training aids including handbooks, and demonstration of models multimedia visual aids.
Provide computer tutorials and reference materials.
Evaluate effectiveness of training and development programs, and utilize relevant evaluation data to revise or Recommend changes in objectives and methods of training to ensure federal compliance.
Assist in the summer meals program as assigned.
Knowledge of computer software programs such as Chancery, Oracle, and Microsoft Office Professional.
Ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks and to work under time pressure to meet deadlines.
Communicate regularly with staff members to ensure alignment, clarity, & effective and efficient quality work.
Collaborate with Performance Manager and District leaders to develop and recommend/ amend performance processes and tools.

Tested and graded test for individual that are learning English as a second language.
Tested and graded test for GED student in order for them to acquire a diploma.
Helped monitor fill out data forms and attendance roll sheets.

Supervised and train 20-25 temporary employees, on the meal application process.
Insured that all applications meet federal, state and local requirements.
Supervised the data entry operations and filing of approximately 110,000 meal applications yearly.
Edited the database for correct information regarding lunch codes and application numbers.
Coordinated with food service analysts and central administration analysts, to ensure that all data input of meal application information was sent and received in a timely and accurate manner.
Generated reports of total meal applications approved and reported per school for each specialist.
