Industrial experience:
Product Manager, Industrial Air Technology Corp. Alpena, MI March 2019 – Present
• Used SolidWorks Simulation tool to conduct FEA analysis on every fan to make sure the wheels are strong enough and to eliminate any natural frequencies close to the operating speed for the specific job.
• Installed and developed a new workflow to test the manufactured wheels for any natural frequency issues before shipping, which helped our products operate safely in the field.
• Successfully launched a new fan line helping to fill in the gaps in the product offering
• Generated manufacturing drawings using GD&T practices in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
• Provided engineering support to PCI and Omni Metalcraft for material handling applications using expertise in SolidWorks simulation tools.
• Worked on projects with ‘Top-down’ and ‘Design-table’ driven design to automate model generation in SolidWorks.
• Used DB works for Product Data Management (PDM).
• Supports the sales of multiple fan lines.
• Worked on multiple special design projects, including to provide help to our customers to build a unique setup CFD/Thermal Engineer, Industrial Air Technology Corp. Alpena, MI October 2017- March 2019
• Developed new tools, products, and improved existing products through redesign assisted by SolidWorks CFD, SolidWorks Simulation and Visual Basic.
• Improved static efficiency of the BISW fan by 10%.
• Calibrated old ‘Cooling wheel’ designs employed in high temperature applications to cool down the shaft at the bearing.
Research:
Research assistant, Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI August 2015 - September 2017 Design and analysis of Heat Exchangers (HRSG) to study the possible improvements in thermal efficiency.
• Successfully improved performance of a heat exchanger by 74%.
• Designed an innovative fin tube for higher efficiency using Siemens NX and implemented GD&T.
• Helped build and test the experimental heat exchanger (Wind tunnels) models in the laboratory.
• Developed a mathematical model and conducted conjugate-CFD analysis using ANSYS CFX for solving the problem and MATLAB for post-processing the result. Academic Projects:
Combined Cycle Gas Turbine.
• Authored a white paper on Combined Cycle Power Plant (Gas turbine with HRSG). Performance analysis of lateral jet.
• Designed a rocket body, in collaboration with Bharath Dynamics Limited (BDL), used CATIA.
• Used ANSYS CFX, effects of the lateral jet were determined and based on the results few issues were addressed.
Radio controlled Aircrafts.
• Developed 2 different low-cost RC airplane to participate in various competitions.
• Conducted workshop on how to design RC airplanes for the freshmen students in our college. Service:
• Helped Alpena High School underwater ROV team which scored the highest points for hydrodynamic design at the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Underwater Robotics World Championship.
• Graduate student supervisor at Van Pelt and Opie library.
• Organizer for the national level technical fest in MallaReddy College of Engineering and Technology (MRCET).
• Lead the team building the Radio-controlled aircrafts.
