Started working for Bureau Veritas Angola June 2018 as a NDT Inspections Coordinator, where I was responsible for several NDT projects Inspection, for Major Oil & Gas companies within Angola. The project were both Onshore and Offshore. I was in Charge of both Expats and Angolan National Inspectors, making sure they had essential equipment in order to do their Inspections jobs safely. I also had to ensure Logistics for both Expats and nationals, travels from home to work site, which would include Flight Ticket arrangements car transport for Inspectors, and accommodation reservation. Organizing Offshore Travel with Oil & gas companies in order for Inspectors to reach the Oil Platforms e.g. FPSO’s, Drill ships and stationary Oil Rigs. Working with clients and customs authorities, ensuring Expats Inspectors Visas were Up to date and also their NDT Certificates.
Major Projects I Coordinated:
Saipem Kaombo FPSO RT Campaign
This was the first project I Coordinated when I started at Bureau Veritas from start to finish. Where I had to hire 4 Expat Inspectors which 2 of them were RT Inspectors and 2 Multi – NDT Inspectors and we also had 1 Angolan National NDT Inspector who was acting as our RPS for the RT Project. We were there to do Radiographic Inspection on the welding making sure that there were no defects in the welding. The Coordination involved making sure our Radiographic Source would be safely sent Offshore via Supply boat, as it had to be put in a sealed Container which also acted as a Darkroom/Film Developing Station plus Equipment Storage. I had to make sure Logistics for the project ran smoothly. This was accomplished by being in constant contact with both Clients TOTAL, Saipem & Petromar as these were all part of this campaign. In all, the project lasted around 2-3 months. The process also included sending out invoices for the whole project.
ALNG Soyo (Angola)
This Project was first one I started to coordinate which was an Onshore Project, which was very exciting for me as this Project was Angolan LNG a Live (Liquefied Natural Gas Plant) Here I was in charge of 9 Inspectors 3 of which were Egyptian 2 RBI (Risk Based Inspection) Inspector and one was VT Inspector. There was 3 Indian Advanced NDT Inspectors and 2 Angolan Assistant NDT Inspectors. These Inspectors were doing Various Inspection Methods throughout LNG Plant, some methods Including RT (Radiographic Testing = testing for Corrosion on Parent Material) also other types of Inspection included = (ULTRASONIC THICKNESS MEASUREMENT FOR CONDENSATE TANK)
As the Coordinator of this project I would Ensure that Inspectors were being rotated after their 28 days of work. I would Insure of arranging their Travel Tickets together with our Logistics department. Which included car transport and Hotel arrangements, this was both Expats and Angolan Nationals
Throughout the year I would visit numerous occasions in order to make sure things were running smoothly, I would then join them on their activities and produce supervision reports of the activities and this I would compile together at the office, then I would then distribute to my manager and QHSE Department.
I would also have to make sure that NDT equipment was in working order and calibrated, this I would do together with my Equipment Coordinator where we would then send Equipment to specialist companies who would then repair any equipment and also calibrate them, for example we would use GammaTech in South Africa for this. I would also have to keep their MPI/DPI Consumables fully Stocked up and the use by date had not exceeded its expiry Dates.
This also included invoicing from start to finish on project, this is a 5-year contract.
AES (Angolan Environmental Services) Luanda – Soyo
AES Project, had the responsibility of coordinating 4 Inspectors, 2 Inspectors at Sonils Base Luanda Onshore Docks and 2 Inspectors at AES Soyo Docks, these Inspectors were there to do Lifting Inspections, NDT, MPI/DPI and visual inspections on various Equipment e.g. Dynamic and static load testing, overhead cranes to assure structural integrity and NDT) of load hooks for cracks and visual inspections for distortions etc.
Visited them on different occasions, thus ensuring project was running smoothly. The main objective of the visits was to produce supervision reports of their activities making sure they were following procedures and producing decent reports and Certification. Following the reports, I would then compile my findings together. This information would then be distributed to my manager and QHSE Department for respective action and follow up.
OPS FPSO SAXI (Petrobase Group South Africa)
This was a spot Job Project, in which I was corresponding between clients in order for PEC (Pulsed Eddy Current Inspection + UT Inspection. The Client that wanted the job doing was OPS on FPSO Saxi. We had to get a Subcontractor in for this. We used a client called Petrobase Group from South Africa. I had to organize Visa in order for the Inspector to come to Angola, which was done through our B.V Visa Department. I also had to arrange the Inspectors flight into Angola together with our Travel and Logistics team, then plan his trip, offshore which had to take place from Soyo, via a surfer boat. The same process was also organized for one of our BV Angolan National Inspectors to go with the South African inspector. The Project lasted for about 2 weeks. This involved planning and organization, I also had to manage the whole process again for the return trip, once the job had finished.
This also included invoicing from start to finish on project.
Petromar Ambriz
This client involved sending our QA/QC, CSWIP Welding Inspectors to carry out welding Inspections and certification for Welders and to Qualify and Re – Qualify Welders.
This also included invoicing from start to finish on project
