I triage patients, numb them for filler procedures, go over the different filler products, come up with an injectable treatment plan for the patient, go over pricing and help patients redeem their Brilliant Distinctions and Aspire Rewards coupons. I also answer calls, make appointments, do filler inventory, stock up and translate for Spanish speakers.

Duties at the office include greeting patients and taking them back to the rooms, setting up the rooms for minor surgical procedures and breast tissue expansions in a sterile fashion (mayo stand, sterile instruments, betadine, etc.), disinfecting the patient rooms after each patient, applying Lidocaine cream for Botox & Fillers patients, making splints, ordering and restocking medical supplies, cleaning and bandaging patients after minor in-office surgical procedures and tissue expansions, undressing and redressing follow up patients who’ve had skin grafts, wound VACs, ORIFs, tendon repairs and tissue transfer flaps, sterilizing instruments and repackaging them, collecting biopsies and sending them for pathology, removing staples, removing sutures, EMR, scanning, faxing, calling patients to remind them of their appointments, making appointments, translating for Spanish speakers, transcribing office notes for each patient seen every day, sending patients links to write reviews on Real Self, Vitals, Health Grades and Google Business, taking before and after photos, filming in-office procedures, making short videos for Instagram, uploading Instagram stories, uploading photos on Instagram and Facebook, and sending before and afters to their website team to upload. On surgery days, I would go to the OR with my doctors to take photos and videos for their Instagram.

Duties at the office include prepping patients for skin lesion excisions by placing a grounding pad onto the patient’s leg, treating excessive bleeding with gauze pads, placing ice packs onto areas of the face where Botox or fillers were injected, passing the cautery pen to the doctor, placing bandages onto treated sites, applying Bacitracin onto cauterized sites of the face/neck, collecting biopsies to send to pathology, removing stitches, filling saline solution into the breast tissue expanders for breast reconstruction patients, removing drains filled with blood/serous fluid of breast reconstruction patients, placing a magnet on top of pacemakers while the doctor cauterizes so the electricity from the cautery doesn’t interfere with the pacemaker, prepping rooms for patients, and clearing away contaminated supplies.

Duties in the operating room include writing the weights (in grams) of the left and right breasts after a mastectomy or reduction, the size of the tissue expanders, and how many cc’s of saline was injected into each expander. Up to this date, I’ve observed abdominoplasties, blepharoplasties, rhinoplasties, facelifts, liposuction, mastectomies, breast reconstructions, breast implant exchanges, mastopexies, breast augmentations, and breast reductions in the OR.
