Description of Duties

Performs Professional, analytical and microbiological testing of samples and specimens. Application and evaluation of approved microbiological techniques and methodologies used in analytical testing of patient’s samples.

Responsible for inoculating, cultivating, classifying and identifying microorganisms found in body fluids and skin scrapings.

Prepares and interprets Gram stains, Acid fast stains and preparations of fungus.

Responsible for observing material derived from cultures and identifying the colonies type of bacterial found.

Follows standard precautions at all times.

Always verifies that the proper specimen is being analyzed for the proper patient and for the indicated test procedure.
