Beginning in 2012 until 2015, I worked in group homes for adults with developmental delays. These individuals were diagnosed with autism, downs syndrome, mental retardation, pica, nonverbal skills, and non-ambulatory.
As a house manager, menu planning, shopping, and cooking were daily tasks. Consulting with verbal clients on the menu planning was something I did other house managers did not do. End of month reports, graphs, and documenting, training and supporting staff, medication administration and MARS documentation, ADA trained transporter, housekeeping, laundry, teaching social skills to clients, educating public community on individuals with developmental delays, assisting in daily hygiene tasks, operating a hoyer to transfer client from wheelchair to bed, and advocating for the client.
