Transmission System Planning and Impact Studies

For the given 40 bus system based on the generation forecast data and load forecast data total increase in load for the year 2030 was estimated. Generators were made to operate within their capability curve limits. An economical system was developed that was functional within NERC/FERC guidelines for steady- state operations using Power world Simulator. Performed N-1 contingency analysis for transmission lines, transformers, and generators and mitigated the problems. Fault studies were done to identify the buses, breakers and other devices withstand or interrupting capability and solutions were proposed for the buses with more than the specified fault current. Impact studies were done for a new entrepreneur’s plant. Calculating Mho elements and Quadrilateral elements for a power system Determining the zones of the relays and calculated the Y matrix using PTC MATHCAD to find the Thevenin impedances for zero, positive and negative sequence and used them for evaluating mho and quadrilateral elements of the relay during various fault conditions.

Power Quality Improvement Using Dynamic Voltage Restorer Improved the quality of power generated with the help of Dynamic Voltage Restorer using a Z-source inverter to design the DVR. The outputs were calculated for single phase and three phase faults during swell and sag. DVR performance which were tested by inducing faults at different time intervals and phases using MATLAB R2016, and ETAP.

Simulation of grid synchronized PV fed pulse width modulated Inverter Simulated the photovoltaic power plant model of capacity 120KW that was installed on the top of my undergraduate department building using MATLAB R2015 software.
