Senior Software Engineer

HealthCareSource, is a Software As A Service (SAAS) based company working exclusively in the medical field. My role as a Senior Software Engineer at HealthCareSource included new Ember JS based web UIs with a C# based Business layer and APIs. I worked primarily on the HHS software, which is their senior living and post-acute employee hiring platform.

In addition, I modified SQL stored procedures, views and functions to optimize performance, created multiple Sisense based dashboards and reports, and modified reported software issues.

01/2019 - 12/2019 Volkswagen / Modis Chattanooga, TN

Software Engineer /Systems Analyst

I was contracted by Volkswagen's Chattanooga manufacturing facility, through Modis, to analyze their current MVC C#.Net manufacturing reporting desktop applications, C#.Net and VB.Net web sites, SSRS/SSIS reports, C#.Net mobile applications and C#.Net web services, to include reporting information on their new models with an emphasis on dynamic expansion and best practices. After analysis, I architected the required modifications in C#.Net, wrote custom SQL tables, stored procedures, views, triggers and functions, and programmed all changes.

In addition, I was asked to teach their current staff C#.Net and VB.Net programming best practices and answer programming questions to further their skill knowledge.

11/2014 - 12/2018 Coast 2 Coast Surveys, Inc. Chattanooga, TN

Director of Technology / Lead Software Engineer

I was asked by the CEO to return to Coast 2 Coast, as Director of Technology, to streamline their network and technical processes so the company would be able to move into new cutting-edge markets. During my time at Coast 2 Coast, we have managed to move into 4 new markets, introduced numerous new technical based products and increase sales.

My roles as Director of Technology included supervising the entire IT operation, strategically analyzing, designing and overseeing implementation of current and future technological hardware upgrades, architecting C#.Net Desktop, Web, Xamarin, Azure and AWS solutions, and integrating 3rd party and custom software requirements needed by the company to allow the company to be able to compete in new markets, managing the IT corporate budget, overseeing various contract employees in the United States and other countries, and assisting in interviewing and hiring all IT department employees and managers.

At BCBST, I wrote custom VB.net, F#.net and C#.net batch, desktop and web applications. I performed Unit and System testing for .net applications and was often requested to peer review other programmer’s code.

In addition, I project managed multiple small, medium and large projects and perform database and application analysis as needed for the Actuarial, Underwriting, and multiple other departments.

I was often requested for multiple projects as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for .net based projects. I assisted in writing the BCBST web standards for BCBST. I learned a tremendous amount at BCBST.

Additionally, I created SSRS, SSAS and SSIS reports, used SQL Reporting services, and worked with Cognos, SAS, and classic VB.

2005 - 2008 Innovative Processing Solutions Chattanooga, TN

Software Engineer / Project Manager / Lead ASP.net Developer / Urbacore Head Instructor

At IPS (a Division of U.S. Xpress, Inc.), my full skill set was put to the test. For over 2 years, I was the project manager and lead developer for the financial card platform and Fuel Card platform, including transfunds.com, Paycheck-Direct.com, PayCashUSA.com, ChequeDirecto.com and Transcard.com. These websites were written using ASP.Net. I used VB.Net and C#.Net for the code-behind programming and to write classes for the business layer. About half of the data for these web sites was stored on an AS 400. We passed data to and from the AS400 using XML/SOAP and ASNA. The remaining data was stored in MS SQL Server 2000, which we later migrated to SQL Server 2005. We communicated with the database using TSQL, and made data available to our corporate customers through Web Services. The last year, as the division grew, I was the project manager and lead developer for just the Financial Card platform. During this time, I was responsible for creating Flash animations and graphics for the websites. I also communicated with clients and built custom web templates for numerous companies including Roush Racing, Comfort Suites, Intuit and FleetOne. In addition, I was also a second level network administrator for the company and managed the testing for all web and .net applications.

Working with Urbacore was a rewarding experience. As the head instructor for the Urbacore program, I was given the opportunity to give back to my community. Urbacore is a training division of IPS that accepts inner city and/or low income teenagers, and offers them free technical training. The students of Urbacore learn about hardware, networking, Office Applications, HTML programming, ASP.net and VB.net programming, Flash development and graphics art creation using Photoshop, Illustrator and Freehand. Working at New Image Surveys from the beginning, and growing it into a multi-million dollar corporation has proven to be a great learning experience. I was hired in to this position at the opening of their new Chattanooga office with the understanding that once the office was fully operational, I would assume the position of Director of Technology. My duties included creating custom Excel templates with Visual Basic macros, creating SQL and Access Databases, creating ASP and ASP.net programs and websites, and developed a testing and quality control system that would be implemented throughout the entire corporation. Since the Chattanooga office was becoming the new Corporate Headquarters, I temporarily assumed the role of network administrator until I could interview the applicants and hire the additional IT staff needed for the office.

Once the office was fully operational and additional IT staff was moved from the Houston Office to assist the IT staff, I was promoted to Director of Technology. In this position, I supervised the entire IT operation, which included the Data Entry, Product Review, IT Development, Network Administration, Graphics Design and Quality Control departments for the 2 main offices and 22 satellite offices across the United States, Mexico and Canada. As Head Technician for Osborne Computer, I routinely build and upgrade computers for individuals. However, the majority of my time is dedicated to designing and building Windows NT networks for companies, and training their employees on the new system and software.

1996 – 1998 MediaPower, Inc. Dalton, GA

Executive Vice President

Building MediaPower from the ground up, my responsibilities at MediaPower were numerous and included the following. I supervised the accounting department as well as the data processing, networking, marketing and shipping departments. I used Quickbooks Pro to personally manage all accounting functions for this corporation, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and inventory control. I wrote customized databases and spreadsheets for the data processing department and integrated them across the network to maximize efficiency. I worked closely with the network department to create and maintain the network, the company web site, the company e-mail server and the online ordering and reporting services. Also, I helped create advertising and marketing materials, and wrote training manuals and company briefings.

1989 – 1997 Dalton Utilities Dalton, GA

Lab Analyst / Data Processing

With Dalton Utilities, I worked seven and a half years as a wastewater lab analyst. In this line of work, I performed numerous chemistry tests on water and wastewater and reported the results on a monthly basis to the EPA and EPD. Also, I designed and created custom spreadsheets, macros and databases for both water departments and various other departments in the company. In addition, I created and prepared the monthly reports for the EPA and EPD, and maintained the computers at the Riverbend facility.

Office Manager / Accounts Manager

At Payday Rentals, I started as an accounts manager. In this position, I managed the accounts receivable and collections for the office. After three months, I moved to store manager where I controlled all aspects of the office including accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales, collections, and weekly / monthly reports and paperwork. This was a wonderful learning experience for me. I learned a tremendous amount about running an office and handling responsibility.
