Studied maladaptive behavior, set up experiments using Psych Toolbox, supervised subjects and ran experiments independently, and presented research after analyzing results.

- Princeton University, Summer 2011: Psychology Dept. Internship for Professor Sabine Kastner:

Worked on cutting-edge analysis of DTI (diffusion tensor imaging) data from fMRIs (functional magnetic resonance imaging) to map white matter tracts in the brain and analyze connections of the V4 visual area to other regions. Side-by-side comparison was done for 5 test subjects and showed patterns consistent with hypothesized visual field maps.

- CGI U (Clinton Global Initiative University),Spring 2011: Presented in a group on behalf of UCSD’s chapter of Voices for Planned Parenthood (VOX)

Established a program to reach high school students and provide comprehensive sex ed, conflict resolution tools, etc.

- iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machines), Summer 2006:

Worked with Princeton University team in synthetic biology competition. Singlehandedly built a database on tissue-specific promoters by select articles with relevance and statistical support for the group.

Main Team Goal: induce differentiation of embryonic stem cells to muscle and neuronal cell.

Attempted a biological toggle switch for gene expression

Worked with synthetic sender-receiver system, quorum sensing, & mammalian biobricks

Achieved cell elongation, structural change & fluorescence, showing biobricks to be functional.

Culmination at MIT, team won 3rd place in the world (1st place in the nation), and 2nd place for

“best real-world application.”

- NJIT (New Jersey Institute of Technology), Summer 2005:

Worked in Professor Zafar Iqbal’s laboratory on a project to make carbon nanotubes [CNTs] that are used in fuel cells, quantum wire, and nano-transistors.

Researched DNA templated-nanotubes and biological applications; CNT-based nano-transistors and hydrogen-doping, performed energy-retention experiments with Hydrogen-doped CNT sheets with help from a PhD student.

Surveyed literature; Created and presented a PowerPoint to discuss project and ramifications. Other Ongoing Work:

Founded microfinance fundraising effort by selling homemade jewelry.
