Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op BorgWarner, Inc. Ithaca, NY. January 2020 – April 2020

• Responsible for Creating/Updating and releasing the Manufacturing documents such as PFMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan, Process Drawings, Work Instructions, Routing Standards, Temporary Change Requests, Check Sheets, Document Summary, Quality Standard Document.

• Worked on a project involves continuous improvement of the existing machining process. Was able to reduce the machine cycle time by 10 sec via drill improvements and downtime by 15% by reducing the faults. Developed a system for improving the tool life and decreasing the downtime of the machine by tracking tool life, type of tool used, cause of failure, reasons for tool change and Developed Pareto analysis of tooling issues on different machines.

• Worked on a project involves tool cost reduction by using Mapal 3 flute regrind tool. Was able to reduce the tool cost by 50%.

• Conducted a study on burr formation on radial holes of the rotor. Responsible for conducting the Process Capability study, improving Cpk values, measuring parts of CMM and Air Gauge for PPAP, performing Gage R&R validations, troubleshooting the machinery, testing new tools, optimizing the process and use of SPC methods. Graduate Assistant Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY May 2019 – December 2019

• Performed research on an Application of DIC in film testing using the DIC technique and INSTRON 5567.

• Developed a comprehensive model for transportation temperature-sensitive products through a small parcel shipping environment. Used MATLAB for simulation and LabVIEW, DAQ for data collection. Academic Work and Projects:

Lean Six Sigma Statistical Analysis for Optimizing the basement space of KGCOE May 2019 – June 2019

• Optimized the basement space of KGCOE using Lean six sigma tools such as FMEA, DMAIC, 5 Whys, SIPOC, Pareto Charts, Stakeholders analysis, root cause analysis, etc. Reduced time required for one application for the allocation of the space in the basement by 20 mins.

• Developed standard work documents, tags, online basement form to improve the basement storage and procedure. Improvement of Gearbox design for Increased Bending Safety March 2019 – May 2019

• Optimized macro/microgeometry of gears to achieve an increased bending safety and improvement of contact patterns and reduction of contact and bending stress.

• Used KISSsys and KISSsoft for this project. Took reference of Face load distribution while performing the modifications in the geometry to check for improvement in contact pattern. Achieved improvement in bending safety up to 593%. Design for Manufacturing and Assembly of the Piston and Gearbox Assembly March 2018 – April 2018

• Determined different parameters such as minimum theoretical number of parts to reduce the assembly time, increase the efficiency of the assembly, reduce the cost of manual assembly, BOM, and redesigned the gearbox assembly for a minimum theoretical part count and DFA principles.

• Determined the process used for the manufacturing of piston based on the quantity. Used SolidWorks for deciding parting line, mold open-close direction, draft angle, side action, etc. Evaluated wall thickness and improved design of the piston using DFM principles.

SAE- Student Formula FSAE, India Nov 2014- July 2016

• Worked on a project involves Design, analysis, fabrication and testing of the Student Formula1 car. Worked with the chassis design, engine transmission, and head of the market survey team. Used SolidWorks for chassis design. Achieved All India Rank 21.

• Designed a fixture for chassis prototype, chassis fabrication, welding, and final car assembly. Skills and Capabilities:
