In this role, I am the HR leader in a high volume, full case retail distribution center with multiple shifts and HR staff. Part of my responsibility is to ensure adherence and training of company policies and procedures, to include all local, state, federal and employment laws. This role is key to driving continuous improvement within the DC. Provide advice to senior leaders and others on people matters and collaborates with leaders and the Store Support. Other duties and responsibilities:

C&S is the largest wholesale grocery supply company in the U.S. C&S supplies independent supermarkets, chain stores & institutions with over 95,000 different products.

Regional HR Manager, 2012 to March 11, 2016:

Functioned as the primary human resource (HR) leadership official for a regional geographic area. In this capacity, I was responsible for the administration and implementation of HR processes and procedures for managers and employees of two C&S grocery supply centers. One center, located in Aberdeen Maryland with more than 270 associates, was a freezer location. The other site was located in North East Maryland with more than 150 associates, which was a perishable site. I was accountable for the overall implementation and administration of HR initiatives, including recruitment and staffing, occurring in the assigned areas. I also provided leadership to an HR Representative at each site; these individuals assist with implementation of HR-related processes and procedures. I handled HR inquiries and issues and conduct training for hourly and salaried associates, in areas of: Safety, performance management, harassment prevention, and employee and leader development. Additionally, I performed the following duties:

Ensures that HR issues are aligned with company values and goals

Supports internal and external job processes to include development of interview processes

Facilitates the development of leaders via the succession program

Assists managers in identifying job accountabilities, technical skills, experience and behavioral skill requirements for all positions

HR Manager, C&S Wholesale Grocers, May 2009 to 2012

Initial responsibilities included oversight for two food warehouses at our Aberdeen (freezer) and North East Maryland (perishable & dry) locations. As the HRM for both of these sites, I was responsible for all facets of HR by ensuring that the Company’s adherence to and compliance with appropriate policies and procedures, as well as Federal and state guidelines and in some cases, implementation of new policies was required. Primary duties included continuous focus on retention and recruitment, training, diversity, and performance for both sites. During my tenure I trained and hired a Supervisor for the North East Maryland site, as a result she was promoted to an HRM. I am now responsible for the Aberdeen location. During my tenure in this position, I also provided HR oversight for a unionized facility in Birmingham, AL (perishable, dry, and freezer) with over 200 associates. Additional responsibilities associated with this role:

Staffing optimization maintained for both sites via monitoring and tracking of hourly and salaried associates. Responsible for job fairs, interviews for external and internal candidates, promotions and ranking processes, as well as all job transfers.

Reporting metrics designed to track turnover rate, training & development of new hires, recruitment and daily operational flow.

Implementation of Recognition programs for hourly associates to help encourage team and individual accomplishments.

Instituted Peer review and coaching for leaders regarding conflict management and engagement skills.

Encouraged the “open door” process via daily contact with the Sr. Level Operational staff and hourly associates. Implemented weekly meetings for leaders and hourly associates to help encourage ideas/changes.

Floor presence implemented for leaders of all levels and for the HR team to help transition the warehouse into a new culture and to re-enforce overall warehouse safety.

WAL-MART DISTRIBUTION CENTER – Smyrna, DE

Wal-Mart is one of the largest distribution networks in the world. This site is a regional merchandise warehouse with over 800 associates at the local site and 1.2 million world-wide.

HR Office Manager, 2002 to May 2009

Recruited for the opening of the distribution center located in Smyrna DE. Initially, I functioned in the role of Training Manager for one year. Later, I transitioned to the role of Human Resource Manager, and the responsibility covered training and all facets of HR, which included guidance during the startup for GM and other leaders and associates. Also provided HR-related advice and guidance to the management team on all HR operations, systems and programs. Worked with senior management to ensure Company compliance by conducting training on HR policies and procedures; recruitment of employees; and development of orientation, training and incentive programs. Managed the leave-of-absence programs and personnel records; administered benefits enrollment and programs; administered HR budget; and handled HR generalists’ workplace issues.
