Journeyman Pipefitter

Dynaten Corporation

*/****-*/****

I piped in a chiller system at a trade college for Collin County Community College. Duties included piping in the chiller, piping in the air handlers, piping in the boiler & piping in the natural gas line. Of course I had to layout pads for pumps/chillers/boilers, etc. The majority of this system was done with pre - fabricated carbon steel pipe (off site) with Victaulic connections, but there were several adjustments that needed to be made to the prefab, using carbon steel butt weld fittings. The natural gas line was all socket weld pipe. After piping in the system & building the cooling tower, I assisted in the flush of the system. Due to the coronavirus, all of the projects due to kickoff (including the one I was supposed to be transferred to) got put on hold. Once the project had water running through it & there was no pipe to fit I got my ROF (reduction of force).

Journeyman Pipefitter

Polk Mechanical

1/2019-8/2019

I worked a few different projects for Polk Mechanical: I did a hospital add-on for Baylor Scott & White, in McKinney, tx. From there I went to A Nokia data center, in FT. Worth. After that project, I went to Chemical Plant called Nalco Champion, in Corsicana, tx. The hospital add on was a chiller system for a new maternity ward they were building. It was predominantly Victaulic, carbon steel pipe. We fabricated, onsite. The Nokia Data center was all carbon steel, butt weld pipe. I came towards the end of that project so I mainly just piped in the air cooled chillers. Once I finished that project I did a short 2 week project at a hospital, in Denison. I forgot to list that project because it was only 2 weeks. I fabricated some risers & installed them. All carbon steel butt weld. After that, I was transferred to Corsicana, tx to the Nalco Champion plant. We ran a couple of compressed air lines there, before I put in my 2 week notice to go to Dynaten. Of course, the day I put in my notice, they terminated me. I was back to work at Dynaten within a week.

Journeyman Pipefitter

Brandt

7/2018-10/2018

Installed Mitsubishi units & piped them in (VRF refrigeration system) using zoomlock fittings, did a few condensate drains for some FCU’s (pro-press) & ran some pre-measured coil copper line sets to units -- All copper, all refrigeration system. Upon completion of unit installation, I was given my lay off due to reduction of force.

Journeyman Pipefitter

TDIndustries

12/2016-7/2018

Was with TD for almost 2 years, in which time I completed 3 projects. Installing different types of equipment, but mainly chiller systems – AHUs, FCUs, CRAHs, air cooled chillers, heating water systems, etc. Carbon steel butt weld pipe, copper (pro-press, solder & braze) & vicataulic pipe. The union poached me & convinced me to walk away from TD for more money, but only managed to keep me working for a few months before laying me off. Journeyman Pipefitter

Self-Contract (Trinity Turbine)

5/2016-8/2016

A Turbine shop down in Houston upgraded to a larger shop, bought all new equipment & needed someone to pipe in a furnace for them. I piped in the furnace, cooling tower, pumps, tank, etc. All carbon steel pipe. Upon completion of the job, they were pleased with my work so they had me stick around & do a few more steel fabrication projects. Pipefitter/Laborer

Trade Management (CR Johnson)

5/2015-9/2015

I had yet to break into the commercial pipefitting game & was looking for a foot in the door to some local pipefitting work. The staffing agency told me they had a laborer position for a company that usually hired a lot of pipefitters, so I took it to get a foot in the door, even though it only paid $14.00/hr. I took the job. As soon as they found out I was a pipefitter with my own fitting tools, they had me start fitting all their pipe for their welder. I kept telling them I wanted more money if I was going to be driving 150 miles a day, round trip & fitting all their pipe. They never gave me any, so we mutually parted ways.

Pipefitter helper/Welder Helper

Saulcon

7/2009-12/2009

I was on the fabrication side of this job, at a Dixie plant, North Carolina. Though I was a helper, my pipefitter would drop off a stack prints & I would fit them & fabricate them with the welder, so the fitter could focus on installing. All carbon steel & stainless steel butt weld pipe for an oil refining system. Finished the job & received my layoff, just in time to return home for Christmas. Pipefitter helper/Welder Helper

KBR

4/2009-7/2009

I fabricated & helped install on this particular job, at a Conoco Phillips plant in Borger, TX. Similar to that of my time with Saulcon but I got more installation experience on this particular job. I ended up leaving because they were not paying helpers per diem & I could no longer afford to work on the road without per diem, so I left for Saulcon. It was all butt weld, socket weld & screw pipe.

Pipefitter helper/Welder helper

Saulcon

4/2008-11/2008

Built a new oil refinery in Sundown, Tx. The job descriptions & materials for all of my industrial projects are almost identical – heavy industrial butt weld, 100 percent x-ray pipe. Upon finishing the project, I received completion bonus, along with my ROF. Comments:

Most gaps of employment were either times when I took a break from pipe to do some Millwright work for Dresser Rand & KM Turbine Services. Also, when I relocated to Dallas, at the beginning of 2013, I struggled to get a foot in the door to the commercial pipe game, so there was a period of time where I did anything I could find to collect a check or spent that time unemployed. I did not want to waste time including jobs that were not relevant to pipe.
