This was my second placement on the PGCE course. I planned lessons for the year 8, 9 (set 1 and set 6) and year 10 lower sets. As the students were of different ability I made sure my lessons were adapted to all my student’s needs. I took part in weekly department staff meetings and weekly revision classes for the year 10 and 11.
3RD OCTOBER – 22ND DECEMBER 2017
MATHS TEACHER, COCKSHUT HILL SCHOOL, BIRMINGHAM
This was my first placement on the PGCE course. During this placement I had the pleasure of planning lessons and teaching for year 7 and 8. My classes were of mixed ability comprising SEND and EAL students; I planned differentiated lessons for all students to meet their individual needs. I had a Teacher Assistant present in my lessons to work with the EAL and SEND pupils. Having acquired a CELTA certificate prior to this course has helped me adapt my teaching to suit the needs of EAL learners.
