EXPERIENCE:

American Airlines - Dallas TX Feb’17 to Present

Position: Sr. Business Intelligence Consultant

Description:

The projects involved developing Business Intelligence (BI) applications for the Airlines Technical Operations Division (Tech OPS).

Worked on various applications creating BI Reports/Analysts for the Sr Leadership on Operations, Maintenance and Supply Chain front to take prompt actions for better results. Worked with various Application/Database Architects to produce seamless navigation across BI Products and Applications.

Some of the High-Profile Projects that I had worked on that helped different Business Units and Leadership across the company are,

Projects –

1)ODR - Open Discrepancies

2)OSP – Oil Servicing Program

3)ASOM – Aircraft Out of Service

Aircraft Open Discrepancies –

It is an operational tool that provides the Material Planning group with Scheduled Maintenance Bill of Work (BOW) and Bill of Material (BOM). The planners review the exceptions to ensure we have stock at the stations to support the requirements. Without the report/tool the Material planning group has no visibility of Part shortages and can impact the Airline operations.

I developed a product called Open Discrepancies, (ODR) which helps Material Planners, AOG and IOC to forecast on what is required for overnight maintenance and helps them to forecast Material Requirements and Part Movements for the next 90 days.

To gather this information, I had to tap into multiple source systems ART/ WCMS/FOS DECS/SAP/MAPS which gives them picture ahead of time on

1) What AC’s that overnight at the Maintenance Stations.

2) What Maintenance needs to be performed on these ACs.

3) What Parts/Tools/Materials are required for the Maintenance.

4) What’s the Part stock availability at these Stations.

5) Quantity Filled – Various Parts movements happen throughout the day Inter/Intra Station Loan Transfers and the stations don’t have a clear visibility on where they are and when they arrive. Part Movements are handled differently in AAPICS and SAP systems and I had to implement some complex business rules within the report.

This product was developed using Cognos as the BI tool and had lot of performance issues, which I overcome by using various query optimization techniques that were available on both the Database front and on the BI platforms.

Hourly Maintenance Dashboard –

The Hourly Maintenance Dashboard is used for identification, summarization, and distribution of information about Flight Operations including Delays and Cancels, Maintenance, Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Non-Essential Furnishing (NEF), and Aircraft out of Service (OTS) by fleet.

The Dashboard helped the Senior Leadership to get an overview of the Tech Ops operations and helped them to make some key Business changes.

Responsibilities:

Wrote complex data transformation and calculation logics which provides insights on Flight Operations including Delays and Cancels, Maintenance, Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Non-Essential Furnishing (NEF), and Aircraft out of Service (OTS) by fleet.

Performed deep-dive statistical analysis and created predictive models that were used to predict Aircraft Health.

Created and setup Datalake environments by extracting data from the IMS databases and generated queries for Stores/Parts Receiving/Ordering and Engineering Applications.

Designed and developed multiple forecasting and utilization dashboards using Tableau and Cognos

Created Active Reports (using data tabs, data decks etc.) and Dynamic Cubes in Cognos.

Created Materialized views in the database to improve run time performance of the reports.

Develop Metadata models in Framework manager as per the business requirements.

Identified and implemented Agile best practices that help team velocity and effectiveness.

Analyse complex distributed production deployments, and develop a plan to optimize performance

Oversaw analysis and functional specifications of business models, executing complex operational and statistical analyses for Customer Insights and Analytics initiatives.

Designed and developed BI solutions, Tableau dashboards and for various teams like Reliability, Supply Chain, MOC, IOC Techops at American Airlines.

Worked within an Agile BI framework driving the users to self-serve BI and offer flexibility in Delivery, User Adoption.

Created interactive Tableau dashboards/stories with Advanced Mapping Techniques, Parameters, Custom Geocoding, Data Blending and complex calculations.

Designed Dynamic Cubes – in memory tool using Cube Designer tool and deployed in the Cognos 10 environment to increase the performance which is using large data sets.

Expertise in Performance optimization techniques.

Worked extensively on Teradata SQL scripts to generate the data sources for the dashboards.

Exhibit strong data analysis skills to identify, review and evaluate the data structures.
