Profile:
A self-driven individual, innovative, dynamic, energetic, strong and persevering woman of 27 years government experience at various levels in the public service career path, beginning with 13 years of teaching high school level and 14 years working with and for out of school youth.
I am now a new resident to be of Edgewood city, New Mexico by virtue of being married to a citizen of New Mexico . I am a roster member of the United Nations Volunteer team . I obtained my Bachelor of Education (English and French) from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College (1987-1991); two French Diplomas in French Language and French Civilization (D.E.L.F. 1997&1998) from the French Cultural Centre (Malawi); a Commonwealth Post Graduate Diploma in Youth in Development Work (2005) from the Commonwealth (UK), second cohort; and a Master of Arts Degree in International Development from Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia.
Professionally, I have supported government efforts by networking and engaging with various stakeholders, participating in stakeholder consultative meetings for sector policy development and strategic plan formulation.
My writing skills in the Youth Department and academic background has led me to pursue other opportunities in youth development work including participating in relevant conferences in Malawi and internationally.
With International Development Masters level qualifications, I am equipped with research skills as I have written several papers for conferences.
As a Family Planning and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights Champion since May 2013, I have demonstrated expertise in advocacy work focusing on the impediments to and implications of Family Planning and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights among youth and women. This involves exploring the related economic development benefits and the variable factors affecting family planning services and investments in youth and women sectors in Malawi as a developing country with a high and rapid population growth. As a former Australian Scholarship Awardee, I have continuously advocated for Australia Awards scholarships and I mentor aspiring Australia Awards awardees as well as Australia Awards recipients. I was the first nominated Alumni to become an Alumni Ambassador for Australia Awards (2013-2014), promoting Australia Awards in Malawi. In addition, I am member of the African Women in Leadership Special Interest Group facilitated by the Australia Awards- GRM office in Pretoria that was launched by the President of Liberia, Madame Ellen Johnson- SirLeaf in 2013.
During my last mile working for Malawi Government (retired from service on 31st March, 2019), I am involved in the 2gether4SRHR UN Programme which is being funded by the Swedish Government and it has engaged UNAIDS; UNFPA; UNICEF; and WHO. This endeavours to improve the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of all people in the East and Southern African Region with much focus on adolescent girls and young people, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people living with HIV, men who have sex with men (MSM), LGBTI, and sex workers (SWs).
