Subject: CV for a Faculty Position.
Reverent Sir/Madam,
Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Sajid is here to inform his particulars. I am a candidate worthy of consideration as I have MA English language and literature and MS English (Linguistics). I also passed MA in Urdu. I have also completed PhD in Language Education from UMP, Malaysia; award of degree will be in a university convocation soon. I also passed CELTA from the University of Cambridge. My English teaching experience in Saudi Arabia at University level is 12 years & 2 years in Pakistan at College level. Further, I also taught English as a Senior English teacher at Pakistan School & College, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
Further, I have seven international publications on English reading skill in USA, India, Europe, and Malaysia. Besides, seven articles were also accepted in different international journals and will be published soon in Malaysia, Australia, Pakistan, & Europe. Three more publications accepted and will be published soon.
Moreover, I have the student-centered attitude to work with youth, committed to innovation in teaching and learning initiatives. I have a positive “can-do” attitude and willingness to promote life-long learning across IAT. I also have strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people with my sound understanding of technologies that support educational development.
Furthermore, I am well respected in my profession as an upstanding, hard-working individual who can be counted on to “get the job successfully done.” Though my resume is detailed and comprehensive, it cannot adequately demonstrate the manner in which I have achieved success. I would welcome an interviewing opportunity at your earliest convenience. I at this moment place my resume for your kind perusal, but I believe that a resume is a limited form of determining a person’s capabilities. However; I will also be available for a Skype interview, if possible.
My CV is attached for your consideration for which I am waiting for a favorable reply.
Yours sincerely,
Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Sajid

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY/SAMPLE TEACHING STATEMENT
My goal in teaching is to foster the acquisition of a base of concepts and learning skills to facilitate further learning and thinking. In all of my courses I guide students in the evaluation of evidence, critical thinking, argument development, verbal and written expression, and the application of general principles to novel settings. These competencies will equip students for a broad range of demands in future academic and occupational settings. Of course, I also expect my students to attain a high level of scholarship in specific content areas, especially in graduate courses in which course content is directly relevant to students’ careers. To promote the development of general thinking and learning skills, as well as facilitate an understanding of course content, all of my courses are structured around three common themes: an emphasis on English research, the development of writing skills and the generation of enthusiasm for scientific inquiry.
In addition to making changes in response to student progress towards course goals and student feedback, I continually refine my teaching techniques by attending workshops offered by the Center for Teaching Excellence and seeking informal consultation with experienced colleagues. As a result, I feel I am improving and evolving as a teacher. Even after several years on the KSAU-HS faculty, I think it is important that I look for additional ways to grow as an English Language Lecturer and to prevent my teaching from getting stale. I will continue to look for opportunities to create new courses, and to fine-tune and update my current courses by incorporating innovative teaching techniques and presenting students the most up-to-date research and theories, as well as historically important work, in each area.

WRITING SAMPLE
In today’s world, reading is an essential skill for learners of the English language, as it develops the growth of their overall language proficiency. The ability to read permits one to attach meaning to written words thereby enhancing comprehension and fluency. Reading plays an essential role for students to be enriched and informed academically. Reading plays a vital role in the lives of children. It is so much a part of everyday existence that one can hardly think life without it. Reading is one of the most essential skills for academic learning and success, particularly so in acquiring a second language. After all, reading is the basis of instruction in all aspects of language learning.
RESEARCH STATEMENT
My research has been inspired by my cross-border academic journey from Pakistan, Maldives, Oman, Saudi Arabia to Malaysia, which has been characterised by frequent intercultural, inter-linguistic and inter-academic adaptations. From my experience teaching in multiple academic sites and in numerous educational systems (British and American), to my reading and research into diverse but closely interconnected fields of World Englishes. I gained the insights that there are plural forms of academic writing, that there are multiple ways of organizing ideas in academic writing, that there are various forms of old and new writing, that writing is done in multiple languages and English varieties, and that writing now crosses borders and cultures like never before. My experience as a student and a writing teacher at multiple sites also reaffirmed the fact that there needs to be a more responsive approach to teach writing to a diverse body of students. Though my PhD dissertation was born in response to this need of exploring one such approach to teaching reading yet I have presented the results of my dissertation study at some conferences. I have also developed many research articles published in international peer-reviewed, Scopus & ISI indexed journals.
Further, as I work on to publishing my dissertation research in journals and finally as a monograph, my future research will expand upon it. I will immediately extend my experiment with what I call reading aloud strategies for removing text level difficulties of second language learners by improving their literature, inferential and evaluative reading skills to diverse classrooms in new sites and different academic levels. I will also design professional development seminars to train other faculty members interested in taking up this approach to teaching reading comprehension. I will interview them and their students, observe their classrooms, and collect relevant data including their curricular and pedagogical artefacts, and analyze them to get to some conclusion of the effectiveness RAS approach in their classes.
Therefore, my future work will involve review and re-design of the curriculum at graduate and undergraduate levels, their implementation and monitoring, and their evaluation through data collection and analysis. The findings from the study will inform strategies and policies to globalize curricula further.
