ICT & Digital Strategy Executive

August 2017 to Present

The National Social Security Authority of Zimbabwe is a statutory body, which was established to ensure social protection through retirement benefits and workers compensation to Zimbabweans. The Authority is currently the second largest institutional investor in Zimbabwe, with an investment portfolio valued at over US$1.2 billion and holds the second largest national personal information database used for statistical analysis.

Summary of Job Function

The role revolves around the provision of ICT strategic leadership and provision of expert advice to the Authority’s Executive team and Board of Directors. The Authority's values are centered on Ubuntu, Excellent service delivery and Innovation. All these with a thrust that revolves around social solidarity and NSSA’s inherent mandate to ensure the same to employees when they become incapacitated. ICT plays a pivotal role in ensuring innovative strategies and technological enhancements are employed in the Authority’s business processes and through a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. Liquid Telecom offers high speed Internet connections, broadband mobility, WiFi, and broadband satellite services to individuals and corporate organizations. It’s the largest Broadband provider in Zimbabwe.

Summary of Job Function

The role is concerned with the management and implementation of the full product Lifecycle of the telecommunications products as the arise on the market(WiFi,VoIP,Digital Workforce).

•Developing and managing the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical and technical implementation.

•Led the rollout of 3G OFFLOAD on WIFI project with a CAPEX spend of US$12Million, which is being rolled out for Econet Wireless Zimbabwe an MNO and that saw total revenue generation of $500k in the first 6 months of launch.

•Led the implementation of in-home WIFI through the use of customer premise equipment based on Gpon technology. Successfully launched in 25 suburbs in Zimbabwe’s capital city Harare.

•Successfully implemented a pilot online communication for Comair and Air Zimbabwe at the Harare International Airport as Managed WiFi offerings, service has now been extended to 5 more Airlines used by airlines for signalling by pilots.

•Managed the rollout of $1,5Million WIFI network for Kenya Central Bank (KCB) through Liquid Telecom Kenya.

•Annually reduced consulting costs(contractors) by $380K by managing project cost-reduction initiatives, including optimizing expenditures to enhance internal team optimization and support capabilities.

•Implemented roaming partnerships with BT-London and IPASS based on HS2.0.

Liquid Telecom Zimbabwe –

NETWORK PLANNING ENGINEER

January 2011 to May 2013.

•Planned, designed and managed IP network Architecture

•WiFi network IP plan using Zone Planner software and other Network Planning Tools.

Ecoweb Zimbabwe is a C Class corporation incorporated in Zimbabwe in 1995 formerly Data Control Systems, and is the leading Internet service provider in Zimbabwe. It is was later acquired by Liquid Telecom Zimbabwe and boasts of the largest WiMAX (16d & 16e) infrastructure and largest customer base.

Roles and Responsibilities: -

•Designed customer solutions for internet connectivity

•Designed customer data solutions and proactively scoped the technical solutions required to address customer requirements, assesses customers met and unmet needs

•Configured and maintained GRE tunnels, IPsec VPNs, EasyVPN, SSLVPN, Citrix Access Gateways and Secure Gateways.
