The Effect of Post-Cold War Populist Governments on U.S-Latin America Relations 2017

• The research focused on the rise of the leftist populist leader in Latin America, with a focus on Argentina and Venezuela, and how this affected these countries' relationships with the United States. The previously mentioned paper first explained the U.S- Latin American relationship during the cold war. Then move on to describe and define populist governments and their origins. Afterward, moving on to the specific cases of Argentina and Venezuela. The main finding of this research is that hard power politics from the United States during the Cold War, and the post-Cold War era have created room for the creation of populist governments. While simultaneously undermining the United States hegemony in the Latin America region. An issue that is quite problematic due to the dependency of local economies on international relationships, as the World Systems theory has explained it.

Discourse Analysis Research 2016

• Modern technology has allowed people to express their autonomy. Technology has done so by expanding the potential of romantic and platonic partners through the usage of social media and different applications. Eva Illouz argues in her book Why Love Hurts, in today’s society, the dating scene has turned into a market full of potential romantic choices, making the process of choosing only one romantic partner much more difficult. The marketization of romance, in combination with increased female autonomy established from the pre-modernity to modern times and the fact that more than half of marriages that follow a purely monogamous relationship theory end in divorce, help prove the out-datedness of monogamy in current heterosexual relationships. This essay will argue that modern technology has made it easier for people to become aware of the romantic market and find romantic partners. This realization has led to the creation of a new generation of relationships like monogamy-ish, polyamorous, and open relationships that focus more on active communication between partners. While also allowing people to enjoy their autonomy, thus leading to an increase in the single population.
